Man City to Win

Despite losing four games in a row, Pep Guardiola’s new contract has given Manchester City fresh impetus ahead of the visit of Tottenham in Premier League duty.

Although results have been negative for City, they have still been generating high numbers of scoring chances. In each of their last eight games in the Premier League and Champions League, they have generated at least 1.6 xG while they have hit the 2.0 xG figure in four of their last five matches in these competitions. These are not the figures of a struggling side.

Tottenham, on the other hand, might have beaten Pep Guardiola’s side in the EFL Cup last month, but that is only likely to serve to make the hosts even angrier.

Man City Match Odds

Both Teams to Score: Yes

Even if City have been unfortunate to lose recent games, their defensive record all season has been rather worrying. In 18 matches, they have managed to keep only five clean sheets – a poor ratio for a team with their formidable record.

Furthermore, they have conceded two goals in each of their last four. On top of this, their xGA figures in recent games are concerning, with their opponents hitting at least 2 xG in each of their last three.

On the other hand, Spurs are equally poor at the back. They have conceded in their last five and have a notoriously soft underbelly that the defending Premier League champions are more than capable of exploiting.

Yes Both Teams To Score

Erling Haaland to have 2+ shots on target

Erling Haaland is not just a prolific scorer, he gets shots away at goal to a prodigious level. He leads the Premier League in shots, shots per 90, shots on target and shots on target per 90.

The goals may not have flown for him so readily in recent matches – four in six games feels verging on a drought by his standards – but he was back amongst them with Norway, grabbing a hat-trick against Kazakhstan.

And in terms of shots on target? He has had at least two in each of his last seven. Expect that run to continue.

Erling Haaland Player To Have 2 Or More Shots On Target

Brennan Johnson to have 2+ shots

Wales international Johnson went on a seven-match scoring spree earlier this season, that has since cooled off, but he should not be underestimated as Tottenham’s main shooting threat. After all, he managed three in the shock defeat to Ipswich prior to the international break.

He is overwhelmingly leading Spurs in shots this season, having mustered 33 efforts at goal in total, and while his accuracy may be lacking with just 27.3%, this does not seem to have deterred him.

The 23-year-old has had 3.44 shots per 90 in the Premier League this season and is well capable of mustering a couple at the Etihad.

8/11
Brennan Johnson Player To Have 2 Or More Shots

Rico Lewis to be fouled 2+ times

Full-back Rico Lewis is Man City’s most-fouled player this season, having drawn 15 free-kicks for a side that ranks surprisingly low in terms of the number of fouls they draw. Lewis is winning 1.74 per 90 in the Premier League this season.

He is particularly interesting in this game because he could potentially be up against Dejan Kulusevski, who is Spurs’ leading foul maker this season with 19, and Destiny Udogie, who is third among Spurs players in this regard with 14.

Lewis has been fouled at least two times in each of his last four matches for club and country, while he can also be backed at 1.3 to be fouled just once in a less adventurous bet.
