Who says international football can't be fun?

On paper, Italy v France looks like a bumper international fixture. However, it may be slightly underwhelming, as both teams have already qualified for the Nations League knockout stages.

That doesn’t mean we can’t try and make a mountain out of a molehill for an entertaining game of football on a Sunday evening, and Tom Desborough has put together a Bet Builder to add some excitement to proceedings.

Italy to win

Luciano Spaletti’s La Nazionale secured their place in the Nations League knockout stage on Wednesday with a win away at Belgium.

In normal circumstances, France’s visit would bring a tough game. However, they beat Les Bleus comfortably 3-1 in the reverse fixture in September and have been in great form since.

Also, Didier Deschamps’ side have had a questionable November campaign. Les Bleus’ star man Kylian Mbappe was left out of the squad, and they were held to a lacklustre 0-0 draw by Israel in Paris on Thursday.

Italy could take advantage of the French’s problems. With their manager under fire and the mood tepid, the 2018 World Cup winners could have more questions to answer.

Under 2.5 goals

Despite the prominence of this match as a standalone fixture, with the two nations having previously met in two major cup finals, the qualification circumstances and proximity to a crucial point in the club football season, there is a risk of this game petering out.

Both sides have already qualified for the next stages of the competition, and avoiding injury will be a top priority for the players.

Neither side played out high-scoring, entertaining games on Wednesday. Alongside France’s 0-0 draw, Italy won 1-0 away in Belgium thanks to an early strike from Sandro Tonali. Plus, with the quality of both teams’ defences, there is unlikely to be much action in front of goal.

Moise Kean to score

This is a name that some Premier League fans may not have heard for a while. But the former Everton striker is currently experiencing a minor career renaissance with Fiorentina in Serie A, scoring a hat trick against Verona last week.

Italy has already qualified, so you can expect them to make changes for the visit of France. Kean will be in line for an opportunity from the start after playing 21 minutes against Belgium.

If Italy are to find the back of the net and win this game, Moise Kean is someone to back to do so.
