England fans will be watching full of excitement with Gareth Southgate’s successor having finally been revealed as Thomas Tuchel with the new boss ready and available to take over immediately. Except he’s not.

It seems the German is as enamoured by the Nations League as the rest of us as he said ‘thanks but no thanks’ to starting his new job before the conclusion of the competition’s group stage. That means interim boss Lee Carsley gets a stay of execution and a second attempt to see off the Greeks that put paid to his chances of getting the job full-time back in October.

With 8 of England’s squad also having decided the competition wasn’t worth their time, you’d have been forgiven for giving this game a miss too. However, as another riveting international break rolls around, seemingly just a few days since the last one, what better way to up the excitement than a Bet Builder winner?!

With this being a top of the group clash with something at stake, we’ll be focussing on the fouls markets in the hope that the starting players care more than Tuchel et al about the result.

Christian Tzolis to be fouled 2+ times

Our first selection is for Greece winger Christian Tzolis to be fouled 2 or more times. The tricky attacker has been fouled 1.86 times per 90 this season for club side Brugge and has covered this line in 3 of his last 5 starts for his nation.

He wasn’t felled in the return fixture at Wembley but, with Kyle Walker set to start at right back, the aging full back’s fading pace will be tested significantly by Tzolis and he should therefore draw fouls.

Jude Bellingham to be fouled 2+ times

Similarly to Tzolis, Jude Bellingham is no stranger to being fouled having drawn 7 offences in just 170 minutes of action under Carsley. One of those games came against Greece where he was fouled 4 times as they struggled to get near him.

This has been a trend across Jude’s England career where he’s been fouled an average of 2.37 times per 90 and has drawn at least 2 in each of his last 6 appearances. With plenty of big players absent from the squad, the emphasis will be on Bellingham to take a lead role in England’s attack and he’ll also be desperate to get back some of the form he’s yet to show for Real Madrid this season.

Ezri Konsa to be fouled 2+ times

Greece are averaging over 12 fouls a game in the Nations League and with a 3 point lead to protect at the top of the group, we’re also including Ezri Konsa to be fouled 2 or more times. The Villa centre back should start with only Marc Guehi, Jarrad Branthwaite and debutant Taylor Harwood-Bellis for competition.

He’s only seen 61 minutes of action so far under Carsley but was fouled 3 times in that game against Finland to carry on his club form where he’s been fouled 2 or more times in 8 of his 13 starts. He’ll be opposing Vangelis Pavlidis who made 2 fouls and was booked at Wembley and will have the role of pressing England’s centre backs on the ball again.

Greece over 1.5 cards

When we’re getting with Greece fouls, it also makes sense to boost the odds of our betbuilder to include some Greek cards. They’ve had card totals of 2, 4, 3 and 3 in this Nations League campaign with the 4 cards coming in the reverse fixture.

England’s opposition have received 9 cards in the 4 matches in the competition so far and with a draw enough for Greece to top the group, we could also see some timewasting cards late on to see us over the line.
