Sunday night provides the final taste of European club football action before a return to everyone’s favourite—the International break. I know. Another one already. At least this is the last one until March.
We have action from La Liga and Ligue 1, as well as Barcelona and Lyon. There are also two top-of-the-table clashes in Serie A and the Primeira Liga: Inter Milan v Napoli and Benfica v Porto.
Our football tipster, Tom Desborough, is here with value on his mind and has four value picks for us.
Let’s get right into it.
Sunday’s Footy Acca tips
7:45pm Inter Milan v Napoli – Inter to win
7:45pm Lyon v Saint-Etienne – Both teams to score, yes
8pm Real Sociedad v Barcelona – Robert Lewandowski to score

Inter Milan v Napoli – Inter Milan to win
Serie A match at the San Siro, Milan
TV: TNT Sports 2, 7:45pm
A first v second to kick things off as league leaders Napoli travel to Milan to face chasers Inter. Antonio Conte’s side had a week to prepare for Sunday’s fixture. While Inter, albeit with a few changes, secured an impressive 1-0 win over Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday.
That momentum will benefit Simone Inzaghi’s team as they extended their winning run to three without conceding a single goal compared to Napoli, who are looking to respond to a humbling 3-0 defeat at home to Atlanta last Sunday.
With that in mind, you back the Champions, Inter, to get the job done at home and reclaim the top spot.
Lyon v Saint-Etienne – Both teams to score, yes
Ligue 1 match at the Groupama Stadium, Lyon
TV: Ligue 1 Pass, 7:45pm
Draws have been the name of the game for Lyon in recent fixtures as they recorded their third consecutive statement in Thursday’s 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim in the Europa League.
Saint-Etienne secured a momentous 2-0 win over Strasbourg last weekend, only their third of the season. This win lifted them out of the automatic drop zone to 16th.
Both sides are leaky at the back and concede goals, with Lyon shipping 15 in Ligue 1 and Saint-Etienne 24. That theme could continue here, especially with the visitors only having three days to recover from their trip to Germany.
Real Sociedad v Barcelona – Robert Lewandowski to score
La Liga match at the Reale Arena, Donostia-San Sebastian
TV: Premier Sports, LaLigaTV, 8pm
The 36-year-old striker has found a new lease of life under boss Hansi Flick, scoring 19 goals in 16 games. It has been a return to a level of form not seen from the Polish international since his move from Bayern Munich in 2021.
His goals have taken Barcelona six points clear at the top of La Liga, and he will have an excellent opportunity to add to that tally against a struggling Real Sociedad.
Imanol Alguacil’s side have only won four of their 12 La Liga games this season and in the bottom section of the Europa League with zero wins from four. It could be another fruitful evening for Lewandowski against a wilting Sociedad.
Benfica v Porto – Over 2.5 goals
Primeira Liga match at Estádio Do Benfica, Lisbon
TV: TrillerTV, 8:45pm
It has been a battle to be the best of the rest for these two sides in Portugal this season, as Sporting have run away with 10 wins from 10 under Ruben Amorim. However, with the boss departing for Manchester United, this game could be an opportunity for someone to begin closing the gap.
Benfica and Porto have lost only once in the Primeira Liga and have been free-scoring, bagging 24 and 27 goals in their opening 10 games. The visitors benefit from Samu Omoridion up front, who has scored seven goals in seven games in the league and earned his first Spain call-up this week.
There have been over 2.5 goals in all five of Benfica’s last five league games, while that has landed in Porto’s last six. In what promises to be a fiery end-to-end affair, there’s a real chance it lands again here.
