Ahead of Sunday’s derby clash between Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League, the visitors only go into the game as favourites based on their history of the past couple of seasons. Nothing in recent weeks has suggested that Mikel Arteta’s side will overcome Enzo Maresca’s in-form hosts.

Chelsea have been undefeated at home since the opening day of the season, when they lost against Manchester City. They also have the advantage of having a midweek off. After all, a shadow squad smashed Noah 8-0 on Thursday, and even that was at Stamford Bridge.

On the other hand, Arsenal played an intense match against Inter in Italy, but they lost 1-0. It was the Gunners’ second successive loss, and they have just two wins in their last six overall.

Martin Odegaard may return for the guests, but it will take a superhuman effort from him to bounce back from weeks out to inspire his team to victory at the Bridge.

Nicolas Jackson to have 1+ shots on target

Nicolas Jackson may just be the most underrated forward in the Premier League currently, having scored 0.69 goals per 90 so far this season. That’s better than others winning significantly more praise than the Senegal No.9 and, indeed, comparable to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

With 13 shots on target, he is Chelsea’s leader in the Premier League and tied third overall in the competition with Chris Wood.

He is posting 1.49 shots on target per 90 and has had at least one effort on goal in every single match he has played in the league this season. As such, he’s an excellent price here.

Bukayo Saka to have 1+ shots on target

Bukayo Saka might be the chief benefactor if Martin Odegaard is able to return to the Arsenal starting XI for this game as the Norway star will free up space for the winger to attack.

Even if this is not available to him, Saka will provide a match threat. There have only been three Arsenal matches in which he has played this season in which he has failed to get a shot on target, one of which was the Manchester City clash in which he was withdrawn at the break after the Gunners went down to 10 men.

Over 5.5 cards

This promises to be a highly competitive affair between two teams that are not strangers to the referee’s notebook at the best of times.

Chelsea lead the Premier League having picked up 38 cards, all yellow, while Arsenal has acquired 30, including a league-leading three reds.

The referee for Sunday’s match will be Michael Oliver, who is also an official who likes to take command by flashing cards.

He averages 5.07 cards per match this season but brandished nine during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City in September, while he also dished out seven when he was last in charge of this fixture, back in November 2022.

Over 9.5 corners

Arsenal and Chelsea are both clubs that are posting high corner counts so far this season, with the Gunners claiming 61 across their ten Premier League fixtures to date and the Blues just one back.

Chelsea, in particular, have had a habit of winning many of these situations in recent league matches. They have picked up at least five in their last five Premier League outings, earning seven or more in four of these fixtures.

Arsenal’s figure is skewed by huge corner counts against weak opponents Leicester and Southampton, yet if their hosts maintain their recent pace of winning flag kicks, they should still have enough to tip the total in this game into double digits.
