After a 10/3 winner from Moises Caicedo fouling Bruno Fernandes last weekend and a 25/1 winner if you were brave enough to back him to do it twice, Oli Nixon back again to sift through the foul matchups markets in the Premier League to pick out three bets that are nicely priced as singles and add up to a tasty treble too!

Brighton v Man City – Nunes to commit 1+foul on Veltman
Joel Veltman is Brighton’s most fouled player drawing 2.48 fouls per 90 minutes this season. If you were to look at a list of most fouled Premier League players, it might surprise you to see that Dutchman sat above the likes of Bukayo Saka and James Maddison in 4th place.
He’s drawn at least 2 fouls in 6 of his 9 starts this season and so backing him to draw an infringement feels like a good place to start. Predicting team news is half of the battle in picking bets in the foul matchups market and it can be argued that taking on ‘Pep roulette’ makes this even more difficult.
However, Matheus Nunes has played 90 minutes in 4 of City’s last 5 games and with Grealish out and Doku only just back from injury, he should be Veltman’s opponent here. The Portuguese midfielder has averaged 1.79 fouls per 90 in league games this season and with Veltman’s habit of buying fouls, the price looks a juicy one.
Liverpool v Villa – Gravenberch to commit 1+ foul on Tielemans
In Arne Slot’s system, Ryan Gravenberch is the deepest of the midfield trio and is therefore given lots of defensive responsibility. The Dutchman has committed 1.7 fouls per 90 in the Premier League this season, only avoiding the referee’s gaze in one of 10 games.
This game should be a battle in midfield and with Alexis MacAllister having committed 5 fouls across the 2 meetings between these sides last season while playing deep, we can expect Gravenberch to be kept busy. Opposing Gravenberch in this midfield battleground will be Youri Tielemans who has been in the thick of the action for Villa this season drawing 1.83 offences per 90 in the Premier League.
He’s been fouled in every single domestic appearance and has drawn at least 2 fouls in 60% of these matches. He was fouled an average of 2.17 times per 90 in games against Liverpool last season and so the Reds midfield clearly prioritise shutting him down.
Chelsea v Arsenal – Caicedo to commit 1+foul on Martinelli
A foul matchups column without Moises Caicedo would be like Christmas without Santa. The Ecuadorian landed us another winner last week and his 3 fouls last weekend have seen him become the player with the 5th most fouls in the league.
He’s committing over 2 fouls per game under Maresca and has had 2 or more fouls in each of his last 5 games. With Caicedo stationed on the right side of Chelsea’s midfield pivot, he’ll not only have to deal with Arsenal’s central midfielders but also their left winger Gabriel Martinelli.
The Brazilian winger has had limited minutes this season but his pace and tricky feet have always drawn fouls from the opposition. The last time he played 90 minutes against Chelsea saw him fouled 3 times back in 2022 and with this being a London derby between the sides sat 4th and 5th, we can expect plenty of fouls to boot.
