Sunday’s Premier League action continues at the City Ground when third-placed Nottingham Forest host a Newcastle side who have put both Chelsea and Arsenal to the sword over their last two games. Toon’s away league form isn’t the best, though, and Forest has only lost once at home this season the league.

Nottingham Forest v Newcastle Betting Tips
Nottingham Forest to win
Correct Score prediction: 2-1
Chris Wood to score
WHEN: Sunday, 3rd of November, 2pm
WHERE: The City Ground, Nottingham
TV: Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League
Nottingham Forest’s remarkable rise to 3rd place in the Premier League has caught the eye of many and having beaten Liverpool and taken points off Chelsea, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will not fear the visit of Newcastle.
The Magpies arrive at the City Ground on the back of an impressive win over Arsenal last weekend, which was built very much on similar principles that have earned Forest their strong start. A well-organised, disciplined, aggressive and hard-working collective was key for Eddie Howe’s men just as much as it has been for Forest all campaign.
It presents an interesting battle in this match, with an expectation that it will be littered with duels and physical contests reminiscent of a previous era. The visitors have more technically gifted players in their side but have shown their best selves when they graft, with players like Joelinton, Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff all impressing in recent matches with their intense work off the ball and their precision and directness on it.
That left-side dynamic of Joelinton and Willock has been really impressive in Newcastle’s last two victories and will be expected to cause problems in this match.
The real battle that could decide the game though is in the Number 9 positions. Alexander Isak’s importance could not be highlighted more, considering he is the only Newcastle player to score an open-play goal for Howe’s side in their last seven games. With three in his last three, the Swedish forward is finding his best form but will face a Forest defence that has only conceded seven league goals this season, a record only bettered by Liverpool.
At the other end, Chris Wood is arguably enjoying the best form of his career. The 32-year-old already has eight goals this season, including four in his last five, putting him on course to beat his best-ever Premier League haul of 14.
The New Zealand international netted a hat-trick when these two sides met at St. James’ Park last season and hasn’t featured in either of the two meetings since, so he will be relishing the opportunity to face the Magpies again, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see his hot streak continue.
Team News
There is no fresh injury news for either side and with both picking up wins last weekend, there aren’t expected to be many changes to the line-ups, if any at all.
Form Guide
Nottingham Forest come into this game in excellent form having won three of their last three against Crystal Palace, Leicester and West Ham. They were without a win in their prior three; however, that included two draws away at Brighton and away at Chelsea, which were both commendable results. Their only league loss this season came in that run and was at home to Fulham.
Newcastle have rediscovered their form after a turbulent spell. Two wins from two against Arsenal in the league and Chelsea in the Carabao Cup will have done their confidence a world of good. Their only win in the prior six came against Wimbledon in the League Cup, with draws against Manchester City and Everton sandwiching defeats to Fulham, Brighton and Chelsea in the league.
Nottingham Forest v Newcastle – Prediction
Newcastle might arrive into this game as slight favourites, but it would be irresponsible to look beyond a Nottingham Forest win here. Their start to the season has been fantastic with just one league defeat in 10 while they are unbeaten in their last four as they occupy third place in the table.
The Magpies’ only league win on the road this campaign was at bottom of the table and winless Wolves, so picking up points away from home is proving difficult, whilst their only away clean sheet came at 16th place Everton.
These two have already met this season at the City Ground, with Newcastle knocking Forest out in the 2nd round of the Carabao Cup. The result was decided on penalties after it finished 1-1 after 90 minutes. While the hosts made plenty of changes, Eddie Howe named an almost full-strength line-up for that game, so Forest will take confidence in knowing that their best players will feature in this one.
Goals have always featured in this game, with BTTS landing in the last four, and each side picked up a win in their two league meetings last season. We think Forest will edge a tight game.
Prediction: Nottingham Forest 2-1 Newcastle
