Olympiakos +1
Olympiakos are undefeated at home this season and it would come as a major shock if Rangers, who have travelled poorly this term, were to upset them.
In the Scottish Premiership, the Gers have secured just one win on their travels and scored only two goals in five matches. Although they did win at Malmo back in September, the Swedish side were also beaten at home by Olympiakos.
With the hosts’ last home defeat way back on March 10, these Greeks are unlikely to be bearing any gifts to the under-pressure Rangers boss Philippe Clement.
Rodinei to have 1+ shots
Look at the teamsheet in the Greek Super League and you’ll likely see Rodinei playing right-back, but with Willian out injured, he has been pushed forward into a wing role in the Europa League in previous games.
An attack-minded player even when deployed in defence, he poses a genuine threat in this more advanced role and has had at least one shot on target in each of his previous three European outings this term.
The 32-year-old veteran is not a player to be underestimated by Rangers, who have conceded a shot to their opponents’ right-sided attacker in their three previous continental outings in the group stage.
Vaclav Cerny to have 2+ shots
Rangers will carry a threat going forward, with Czech Republic winger Vaclav Cerny the man who has carried the most menace for them in recent times.
With 13 shots, he stands joint top among all Europa League players when it comes to pure efforts on goal, with a staggering 5.60 per 90 minutes.
Moreover, he has been a man on a mission in recent matches. Across his latest ten starts for club and country, he has had at least two pots at goal on ten occasions. His run dates back to the Old Firm match on September 1.
Nedim Bajrami to have 2+ shots
Bajrami is a player growing in importance in Clement’s Rangers side, having arrived at Ibrox late in the summer window from Sassuolo. The signs are that he is bedding in quite nicely and getting increased minutes on the field.
He has featured for Rangers on eight previous occasions and has managed to get at least a couple of shots away in seven of these games. Presently, he is on a five-match streak of doing so.
Furthermore, his confidence will be up. He has netted in each of his last two outings and is being rewarded with getting a high minute count, with Clement reluctant to bring him off before the closing stages of games.
Over 4.5 cards
Both of these teams like to get embroiled in a bit of a tussle, while a fiery home crowd and a card-happy referee are likely to mean that the yellow card is shown regularly on Thursday night.
Olympiakos’ last nine matches have seen at least five cards dished out by the man in the middle on seven occasions, with two of their three Europa League outings ending with at least four cards.
The Gers are not quite so mercurial, though they are certainly not angels; four of their last seven in all competitions have seen at least five cards brandished.
Referee Sascha Stegemann, meanwhile, averages 6.55 cards across the 11 games he has overseen this season.
