We’re all used to PSG dominating Ligue 1 but they face a tough test on Sunday night as Luis Enrique’s side travel to Marseille.
It’s first v third in the table and only three points separate the sides. Our tipster Oli Nixon has studied the markets to find some value selections. He’s even put them into a tidy Bet Builder!

WHEN: Sunday, 27th of October, 7:45pm
WHERE: Stade Vélodrome, Marseille
TV: TNT Sports
For the first time since 2021/2022, Marseille look capable of mounting a Ligue 1 title challenge and with PSG’s star fading somewhat since the sale of Kylian Mbappe, their trip to the Stade Velodrome is an intriguing one and one which could set the tone for the most open title race in France for years.
Luis Enrique’s men will be feeling the pressure after 1 win in their last 4 games in all competitions whereas confidence in Marseille will be high as they’ve lost just once all season. We’re hoping this melting pot results in a feisty game with plenty on the line and are therefore heading to the fouls and card markets for our Bet Builder, throwing in a shots selection to boost the price.
Achraf Hakimi to be fouled 2 or more times
Our first leg is for Achraf Hakimi to be fouled two or more times which looks a very backable price as a single. The Moroccan full back has drawn 1.46 fouls per 90 minutes this season and has landed this bet in five of his nine appearances. He’s renowned for getting forward and will need to be covered by a combination of Jonathan Rowe, Ulisses Garcia and ex-Parisian Adrien Rabiot. That trio have combined for a whopping 8.73 fouls per 90 between them this season and although that average comes from a small sample of games, it’s safe to say Hakimi should be involved.
Achraf Hakimi to have 2 or more shots
We’re also relying on Hakimi to be busy in the final third where we need him to have plenty of shots – something he’s been doing all season. The marauding full back has landed this bet in seven of his last eight games including having had 12 in three Champions League fixtures. Marseille have been relatively tight at the back conceding just 11.9 shots per game but with PSG averaging the most in Ligue 1 at 18 per game, they haven’t faced an attack of this quality yet. Hakimi also managed five shots in the two games between these sides last season and scored with one of those and so hopefully those recent memories will lead to him trying his luck again.
A red card in the match
The final part of our bet is the toughest part but again looks more than backable at the price given the data at hand. Largely due to Marseille’s lack of competitiveness, recent head to heads haven’t seen many red cards with just the two in the last five meetings. However, the red mist has absolutely descended in Marseille games this season. Their last six fixtures have seen six dismissals with only their trip to Strasbourg going without one. They’ve been responsible for half of those reds and so are doing their fair share of the heavy lifting in terms of aggro too.
One of the key ingredients in getting us the red card we need lies with the man in the middle. Francois Letexier has taken charge of four matches across all competitions this season and has given a red card in three of those. He’s also dished out 14 yellows and so is clearly partial to going to his pocket. With a referee happy to get his cards out, a team in Marseille who have seen more red than a tomato ketchup bottle and a match with lots at stake, a red card looks a great way in to boost our Bet Builder to a lovely price.
