FCSB (+2)

It’s difficult to back Rangers to win games convincingly at the moment, and though they start this game as strong favourites, recent history suggests they will struggle to claim a comfortable win, against a FCSB side that appears a little underrated.

Rangers have only won three of their Premiership and European matches this season by a margin of more than one goal. Indeed, they have scored more than two goals in a game only twice all season.

By contrast, their guests come into this game with a nine-match unbeaten run behind them, including an impressive 1-0 win away to PAOK in their previous Europa League match. Don’t expect them to roll over at Ibrox.

Rangers goalkeeper to make 2+ saves

FCSB are a team that have become accustomed to getting a high number of shots away in recent games.

The visitors have had at least 13 efforts on goal in six of their last eight matches, and while their accuracy has left something to be desired at times, the sheer number of strikes they have suggests Jack Butland is likely to be called into action at least a couple of times.

Rangers’ defence, meanwhile, looks a vulnerable area of their squad, with four clean sheets in their last six rather flattering the Ibrox club.

Ross McCausland to have 1+ shots on target

Left on the bench for the Kilmarnock debacle at the weekend, Ryan McCausland can hope to be rotated into the team for this clash, with the changes surely going to be rung by manager Philippe Clement.

The Northern Ireland winger has had few opportunities to impress this season, but when handed a chance, he has not let his club down. Indeed, he wrapped up the point in Malmo by coming off the bench to score Rangers’ second.

In relatively limited minutes, he averages a shot on target every 59 minutes, making him good value to continue that streak against FCSB.

Marius Stefanescu to have 1 or more shots on target

None of the FCSB players have managed as many shots on target this season in league action as midfielder Marius Stefanescu, who has done so on 10 occasions.

Indeed, in games statistics are available for, he’s had at least one shot on target on eight of 11 occasions, including each of the last three he’s played in.

He made a strong impact off the bench at the weekend against rivals Dinamo Bucharest, and is set to be reintroduced to the starting XI on the back of that performance.

Mohamed Diomande to make 1 or more fouls

No Rangers player has made more fouls this season than defensive midfielder Mohamed Diomande, who posts a club-high 14, along with Tom Lawrence, at a rate of 1.92 per 90 minutes.

Diomande consistently gives up free kicks. He’s committed at least one foul in eight of his nine appearances this season, with the exception a win over St Johnstone, where he was replaced at half time.

He’s conceded at least two fouls in three of his last five for Rangers .

While Steaua’s main foul magnet Darius Olaru is banned for this game, Octavian Popescu will take his place. The 21-year-old is winning 1.73 fouls per 90 domestically this season and picked up 2.99 per 90 last term.
