Atalanta v Celtic Tips: Andy Robson’s 11/1 Champions League Bet Builder

It could be a tough travel week for Celtic.

The Championssssss! The Champions League is back following the October international break and Celtic head to Italy to face Atalanta on Wednesday afternoon.

As the day job returns across the bumper midweek action, Twitter’s top tipster Andy Robson dives into the stats and form for both sides to find five value picks for his Bet Builder as the Brendan Rogers’ side head to the Europa League holders.

The international window has meant recharging Andy’s batteries, so let’s get his thoughts on this contest. Here are his Atlanta v Celtic betting tips.

Another thing to add is that three of Andy’s player picks fall under Paddy’s Super Sub promotion, meaning the bet carries over to his replacement if he is replaced.

Atalanta v Celtic tips

Atalanta to win
Both teams to score: Yes
Ederson to have 1+ shots on target
Nicolas Kuhn to commit 1+ fouls
Ademola Lookman to commit 1+ fouls

WHEN: Wednesday, 24th October, 5:45pm
WHERE: Gewiss Stadium, Bergamo, Italy
TV: TNT Sports 4

Atalanta to win

Atalanta are strongly favoured to continue Celtic’s troubles on the road in Europe when the sides meet on Wednesday.

La Dea, after all, are coming off the back of three successive victories, including a comfortable 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk on neutral territory in the Champions League, a 5-1 success over Genoa at home and, at the weekend, a 2-0 triumph against Venezia in Serie A. It is their strongest period of the season – and by some distance.

On the other hand, the Scottish club make the trip to Bergamo after ceding a 2-0 lead against Aberdeen at the weekend, settling instead for a 2-2 draw in their top-of-the-table clash.

More pertinent to this fixture, though, was the 7-1 thrashing they received in Dortmund earlier this month. This was the 16th match without an away win in the Champions League—a British record.

Atalanta Match Odds

Both teams to score: Yes

Atalanta are currently in free-scoring form, and against a Celtic side that is so woeful on their travels, it is almost taken for granted that the home side will find the net.

After all, they have netted 13 times in their last five matches while they have generated at least 1.2xG in each competitive match they have played since the beginning of the Serie A season.

On the other hand, Celtic have a very defined way of playing and will seek to attack their hosts when possible. Consequently, Brendan Rodgers’ side have scored in every fixture they have played this season. Even in their loss against Dortmund, they still created 2.2xG.

4/7
Yes Both Teams To Score

Ederson to have 1+ shots on target

Atalanta’s central midfielder may be noted for his gritty qualities in the heart of the park, but he has shown more attacking intent in recent weeks, with seven shots in his last three matches. That’s more than he had managed in his previous eight outings for his club.

This has translated into more shots on target, with four coming in the last two games alone.

With Celtic set to leave spaces that Atalanta will exploit, expect the Brazilian to get two or three reasonable efforts away, with his price to hit the target just once a very attractive one.

13/8
Ederson Player To Have 1 Or More Shots On Target

Nicolas Kuhn to commit 1+ fouls

This season, Celtic’s leading foul maker in the Scottish Premiership is a huge price to commit just one indiscretion in Italy. Kuhn has committed a foul in eight matches he has started this season, except for the trip to Dortmund.

Indeed, he has committed multiple crimes in four of his last seven starts, and given he will be expected to do a good deal of defensive work in this clash, the odds here look excellent.

2/5
Nicolas Kuhn Player To Commit 1 Or More Fouls

Ademola Lookman to commit 1+ fouls

Atalanta attacker Ademola Lookman is liable to find himself drifting into the territory of Celtic full-back Alistair Johnston in this encounter.

The Canada international is the Champions League’s leading player in drawing fouls this season, picking up eight in two games.

It’s not just in Europe that Johnston is frustrating opponents, though. In the Scottish Premiership, he is winning fouls at a rate of 1.18 per 90.

Atalanta will likely adopt a high pressure, which will mean Lookman hunting down Johnston. The Nigeria international has committed fouls in six of his eight club matches this season and is liable to extend this run against a player adept at winning free-kicks.

3/10
Ademola Lookman Player To Commit 1 Or More Fouls
