Robert Lewandowski to score
A showdown in Barcelona catches the eye in Wednesday’s Champions League action as Hansi Flick and Robert Lewandowski’s former side land in Catalonia.
Flick riding a wave of positivity so far this season, with Barcelona leading La Liga, on the back of a 5-1 home win against Sevilla last weekend.
They hammered Young Boys 5-0 in their last home Champions League game, but Bayern Munich are a real step up, with Vincent Kompany’s team only losing once this season – at Aston Villa in their last European outing.
The real excitement here comes in the two attacks with Lewandowski in fine form for Barcelona. Two goals against Sevilla brings his Barcelona tally up to an impressive 14 in all competitions so far this season, including seven in his last three appearances.
Harry Kane to score
Kane will be hooping anything Lewandowski can do, he can match, as England’s captain aims to find the net in Barcelona. He went one better than his rival over the weekend with a hat trick in the 4-0 win over VFB Stuttgart.
He has 13 goals this season for Kompany’s charges and scored four against Dinamo Zagreb in their opening Champions League game of the campaign.
8:00pm: Atletico Madrid v Lille
TV: TNT Sports 6
Atletico Madrid to win
Atletico Madrid were forced to fightback to secure a 3-1 home La Liga derby win over Leganes last weekend as Lille were held to a 0-0 draw in Monaco.
Lille managed a shock 1-0 home win over Real Madrid in their last European game, but a trip to the Spanish capital to face their rivals, could play out very differently.
Diego Simeone’s team are unbeaten in all six of their home matches so far this season, with four wins in Madrid, including a 2-1 victory over RB Leipzig in September.
8:00pm: RB Salzburg v Dinamo Zagreb
TV: TNT Sports 9
Both teams to score: Yes
Both of these sides have struggled so far in the new league phase of the Champions League with RB Salzburg losing both of their games and Dinamo Zagreb picking up one point from two matches.
They will be looking to boost some confidence and the visitors have scored twice in both of those matches against Bayern Munich and AS Monaco.
RB Salzburg are yet to score in this phase of the Champions League but they have scored in five out of six home games in all competitions in 2024/25.
8:00pm: Young Boys v Inter Milan
TV: TNT Sports 7
Inter Milan to win to nil
Inter Milan head to Young Boys on the back of four successive wins in all competitions after edging out a 1-0 weekend win at AS Roma.
Simone Inzaghi’s team are currently second in Serie A, with four points picked from two Champions League games, including a 0-0 draw at Man City and a home win over Red Star Belgrade.
They have also been very strong defensively on the road, with just three goals conceded in four, and clean sheets in Rome and Manchester.
