5:45pm: AC Milan v Club Brugge

Christian Pulisic to score

AC Milan already find themselves in must-win territory after losing each of their two opening Champions League games.

A third defeat against Club Brugge would leave Milan with a mountain to climb to reach the knockout stages, while a victory could help ignite their European campaign.

Much of their success depends on the form of Christian Pulisic, who has been their most important player over the last six weeks or so.

Pulisic scored in four straight Serie A games before failing to score in the 1-0 win over Udinese at the weekend, while the American winger scored Milan’s only European goal of the season so far when he opened the scoring in the first gameweek.

He is probably the most likely player to get on the scoresheet at the San Siro on Tuesday and is a decent price to do so.

5:45pm: Monaco v Crvena Zvezda

Over 3.5 goals

Monaco have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, finding themselves level at the top of Ligue 1 alongside PSG after eight games and well on their way to qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League after picking up four points from their opening two games.

There has been no shortage of goals in Monaco’s Champions League games to date, with Adi Hutter’s side beating Barcelona 2-1 in the opening game of the competition and coming from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw against Dinamo Zagreb last time out.

Red Star Belgrade, on the other hand, have enjoyed an almost flawless start to the domestic season but have struggled on the continent.

Red Star have taken an incredible 31 points from their opening 11 games in Serbia but find themselves pointless after a 2-1 home defeat against Benfica and a 4-0 drubbing at AC Milan.

They are leaking goals but are quite capable of scoring them at the other end, with all signs pointing towards an exciting game on Tuesday.

8pm: Girona vs Slovan Bratislava

Over 6.5 Girona corners

It was always going to be a struggle for Girona to replicate the form that saw them qualify for the Champions League in the first place.

The Spanish side currently sits 12th in La Liga and winless at the bottom of the new Champions League group stage following back-to-back defeats against PSG and Feyenoord.

This is a huge opportunity for them to get their Champions League campaign off the ground. Slovan Bratislava already appear to be whipping boys in this new Champions League format, recording successive four-goal defeats against Celtic and Manchester City.

The onus is on Girona to take the game to their inferior opponents and there should be plenty of corners as a result.

Slovan have conceded a combined 26 corners in their two Champions League games, while Girona won 11 corners in their only home game of the competition so far. It wouldn’t be at all surprising if they replicated that figure on Tuesday.

8pm: Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund

Both teams to score

A repeat of the 2024 Champions League final, Dortmund’s trip to Madrid promises to be one of the ties of the round.

Real Madrid’s shock defeat against Lille last time out does not really put them in danger of failing to make the knockout stages, but another defeat against Dortmund would start to turn on the pressure.

Dortmund, meanwhile, are top of the 36-team league table after coming up against admittedly soft opposition in Club Brugge and Celtic, but they are quite clearly capable of scoring goals after scoring 10 in their opening two games.

Real Madrid have failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last seven games, including both of their Champions League games, while Dortmund have conceded 12 goals in seven games in the Bundesliga.

Real won 2-0 when the sides met in the Champions League final in June, but the chances of both teams finding the back of the net are quite high on this occasion.

8pm: Juventus vs Stuttgart

Under 3.5 cards

Neither Juventus nor Stuttgart have shown a poor disciplinary streak in the early stages of the Champions League this season.

Granted, Juventus had Michele Di Gregorio sent off in their last Champions League outing in Leipzig, but the fact remains that Juventus and Stuttgart have received just five cards between them at this early stage of the campaign.

They also ranked towards the bottom in terms of foul per game, with Juventus averaging just 10.5 fouls per game and Stuttgart only averaging 9.5 fouls per game. There is nothing to suggest a card-frenzy in Turin on Tuesday.
