Kilmarnock v Rangers tips: Dessers Scoring in Andy Robson’s 4/1 Bet Builder for Sunday’s clash

Rangers should be bagging the points here but Andy Robson's got Killie rattling the net too.

Going into the weekend, Rangers are five points behind Premiership leaders Celtic, and the pressure is mounting. On Sunday, they face a Kilmarnock side that is unbeaten over its last five fixtures in all competitions.

Scottish football expert Andy Robson has dug into the stats and form and developed a four-legged Bet Builder for Sunday’s clash. Let’s get his Kilmarnock v Rangers betting tips.

Kilmarnock v Rangers Bet Builder tips

Rangers to win
Both teams to score, yes
Cyriel Dessers to score anytime
Tom Lawrence to have 1+ shot on target

WHEN: Sunday, 20th of October, 12pm
WHERE: The BBSP Stadium Rugby Park, Kilmarnock
TV: Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Football

Rangers to win

Kilmarnock may be an improving force, but not at a rate quick enough to allow them to worry Rangers too seriously at Rugby Park on Sunday.

Gers boss Philippe Clement recently celebrated his anniversary in charge of the Ibrox club, having endured a period during which his job was on the line. Now, the Glasgow giants have won three successive league matches and four of their last five.

Killie, meanwhile, have just two wins in 13 matches all season, and even if they are undefeated in five, four of these games have been draws against teams they would hope to beat.

If the hosts are to get into the game, they will need to get their noses in front, yet they have conceded the opening goal in all seven league matches they have played. In this scenario, they are unlikely to recover.

Both teams to score, yes

Kilmarnock will fancy their chances of breaching the Rangers’ defence in this game. After all, they scored three goals in successive Premiership matches and finally appeared to have found their shooting boots after a slow start to the season, partly due to fixture congestion caused by European matches.

On paper, the Rugby Park side has a very credible attacking threat. Though Rangers have kept five clean sheets in their last seven, the Ibrox club still has defensive weaknesses that can be exploited—particularly after an international break when several of their players were away.

Cyriel Dessers to score anytime

Cyriel Dessers is overdue for a goal in the Premiership, having gone four without a strike in Scotland’s top flight, which dates back to August 24 against Ross County.

The international break, though, should have done the No.9 some good. The Nigeria striker was given a considerable workload earlier in the season, and the time off as he was not called up for action should allow him to regain some of the bright early-season form that saw him score five goals in August alone.

With Vaclav Cerny and Nedim Bajrami having been significantly worked by their nations, the onus will be on the centre forward to produce.

Tom Lawrence to have 1+ shot on target

Tom Lawrence is expected to shake off an injury sustained against Lyon a couple of weeks ago to start this match in the No.10 role, where he will be expected to take up a crucial offensive function for Rangers.

After being dropped against Celtic at the beginning of September, he has come into his own, with seven shots on target in four starts, one of which was curtailed to just 45 minutes against the French side due to injury.

In both appearances he made against Killie last season, meanwhile, he had a shot on target. With 1.52 shots on target per 90 in the Premiership this season, expect him to threaten Robby McCroarie’s goal at least once.
