Friday night sees the return of league football across Europe after what was an interesting fortnight of international football.
Our football tipster Paddy Murphy has gone in search of value punts as the domestic game return to England, Scotland, France, Spain & Germany.
With this being a five-fold Acca, too, Paddy’s footy acca betting offer kicks in, and we’ll get our stake back if just one leg lets us down.
Let’s get right into it.

Borussia Dortmund v St Pauli – Borussia Dortmund to win & over 2.5 goals
Bundesliga match at the Westfalenstadion, Dortmund
TV: Sky Sports Mix, 7:30pm
If there was ever a ‘football hipster’s’ fixture, this is it. And it promises to deliver. Borussia Dortmund have been box office this season, of their nine games all competitions so far, they’ve only lost twice and have scored a whopping 25 goals. At home this season, they’ve won all four of their matches, scoring 17 while conceding five.
St Pauli’s return to the top flight has gone exactly as expected. They’ve chalked up just four points from their six games thus far, but they’ve been showing signs of late that they can rise to the challenge of the top tier. They smashed Freiburg 0-3 on the road last month and held free-scoring RB Leipzig to a 0-0 on home turf just before that.
BVB will most certainly take the three points here and they always leave space at the back meaning the away side could draw some blood. This one should be ending 2-1, 3-0 or above.
Monaco v Lille – Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals
Ligue Un match at the Stade Louis II, Monaco
TV: TNT Sports, 7:45pm
Monaco are making a real fist of things in an attempt to wrestle a Ligue 1 title from the hands of PSG. No Kylian Mbappe and a new focus on youth in Paris means their rivals have a golden opportunity to kick them while they’re down. And who doesn’t love to see a Goliath fall in football?
The hosts are undefeated over their nine games this season and have won seven of their eight league games, drawing the other. On home soil, they’ve won three and drawn one, scoring seven and conceding three.
Lille are currently fifth, six points behind their league-leading opposition. They’ve won two, drawn one, and lost two of their last five league games. Away from home this season, they’ve won two and lost one on their league excursions, scoring five and conceding just one. We should see at least three goals here, with both teams getting on the scoresheet.
7:45pm Hamilton v Falkirk – Both teams to score, yes
Scottish Championship match at New Douglas Park, Hamilton
TV: BBC Scotland/iPlayer, 7:45pm
Hamilton began the season in pretty good form, but over their last five, they have won just one, drawn one, and lost the other three. Their home form is robust, though. They’ve won three, drawn one, and lost one over their last five, scoring eight and conceding just three.
Falkirk sits atop the Championship table and have won two, drawn two, and lost one over their last five in the league. On their travels, they’ve won three, drawn one, and lost one, scoring eight and conceding four. Both sides are in good goal-scoring form, and we have to exploit that.
Leeds v Sheffield United – Both teams to score, yes
Championship match at Elland Road, Leeds
TV: Sky Sports Football/Main Event, 8pm
The international break came at the perfect time for Leeds as they’d just been held to two successive draws. A reshuffle and a rethink may be exactly what they’ve needed as they face a Sheffield United side who are undefeated over their last six fixtures.
The hosts have won two, drawn two, and lost one over their last five matches, while at home in the Championship, they’ve won two, drawn one, and lost two, scoring eight and conceding five.
The Blades have won four and dawn one over their last five and of their four away league games this season have won two and drawn two, scoring five and conceding just one. They’ve also got the best record of clean sheets in the league, conceding just three goals over their nine league outings.
However, the hosts have banged in eight over their last four and a win here could put them top of the league standings. You’d nearly have to go with Chris Wilder’s side based on the records but they don’t traditionally have a good record away at Elland Road. Both Teams to Score? Yes is the smarter play.
Alaves v Valladolid – Alaves to win
La Liga match at the Estadio do Mendizorroza, Vitoria Gasteiz,
TV: Premier Sports, LaLigaTV, 8pm
On first glance this looks like the type of game where both teams could lose if that were possible. The hosts, however, are decent enough on home soil. They’ve won two, drawn one, and lost one so far, scoring four and conceding four.
Valladolid have lost all four of their away La Liga clashes this season, conceding an eye-watering 15 goals while scoring just two. There’s just no way the away side are getting anything here. We’re backing the hosts.
