Paddy’s ambassador Joe Cole joined us earlier this week to discuss his thoughts for the Boys in Green’s odyssey to Piraeus on Sunday night.
Greece recorded a shock 1-2 win over England on Thursday night, while Ireland got their first win under their new manager, Heimir Hallgrímsson, thanks to a late Robbie Brady goal that saw them winning 1-2 away at Finland.
Let’s get Joe’s Greece v Ireland betting tips for Sunday night’s Nations League clash.

Greece to win
WHEN: Sunday, 13th of October, 7:45pm
WHERE: Stadio Georgios Karaiskaki, Piraeus
TV: RTE2, Viaplay
I’ll probably upset Paddy here, although that 1-2 win away to Finland was a great result for Ireland.
The Dentist, as they’re calling him, Heimir Hallgrímsson, is the right man for the job. They took a long time to appoint the manager and spoke to a lot of candidates. With the work he’s done previously with Iceland, and from what I’ve seen of Ireland, particularly in the second half against England, along with the group of players they’ve got now, I think he’s perfect for the job.
He’ll steady the ship in the hope that the younger players, such as Even Ferguson, will start coming through, and then they can start to build a really functional team.
On the flip side, though, Greece beating England is probably their greatest victory outside of tournament football, and they fully deserved it. They scored four goals from open play, two of which were disallowed, of course, but nobody’s gone to Wembley and done that before, not even Brazil or France.
Playing back at home and obviously with the death of George Baldock surrounding the squad, it’ll be a very emotional night for Greece, and they’ll have a bit too much for Ireland.
Sorry Paddy, Greece to win.
