England to win
England were poor against Greece on Thursday night and thoroughly deserved to lose. However, we should see an improved performance here. After a failed experiment at Wembley, we’ll likely see Lee Carsley play with a striker this time and learn from his mistake in trying to shoehorn all the best-attacking players into his lineup.
Carsley’s England beat Finland 2-0 at Wembley last month and looked good at times during that game. This Finnish team are yet to pick up a point in the Nations League and shouldn’t put up the right that Greece did. With a more sensible strategy and against lesser-quality opposition, this should be a routine win for the Three Lions.
Harry Kane to score
The England captain didn’t play against Greece, and the team struggled without a focal point. This means that Carsley will revert to playing a traditional striker this Sunday. That is likely to be Harry Kane, who is reportedly winning his race for fitness and should play his 101st game for England against Finland.
He’s scored 68 goals for his country and netted twice when they met last month. He’s been in strong form for Bayern Munich, too, with four goals in the Champions League already this term and five in six Bundesliga games.
Should he play, which looks likely, then he will have a great chance of finding the back of the net. He averaged 5.5 shots per game across his two Nations League appearances in September and will fancy a matchup against a poor Finnish team.
Jude Bellingham to be fouled 2 or more times
The false nine experiment was a poor one for Jude Bellingham, but his late goal showed just how good he is and how important he can be to this team. Because of his threats and his ability to change a game in a moment, he’s consistently the most fouled English player.
Against Greece, he was fouled four times, the most of any player in an England shirt. Even at the Euros, Bellingham was fouled the most, being taken down 2.3 times per game. Finland will want to stifle him when he’s on the ball and should foul him multiple times.
Rasmus Schuller to commit 2 or more fouls
When it comes to the Finns committing fouls, the man most likely is Rasmus Schuller. The 33-year-old anchors the Finnish midfield and isn’t blessed with great pace, which might be an issue against a quick England team.
We’ve seen the Djurgaarden man start every game of this Nations League campaign so far. In those three games, Schuller leads the Finland team in tackles, 2.7 per game, and fouls, 1.7 per game. Against a superior England team, he’s likely to commit multiple fouls.
Rasmus Schuller to be booked
We’re doubling down on Schuller and backing the midfielder to get his name taken by referee Giorgi Kruashvili. When these two teams met last month, Schuller committed two fouls and was rewarded with a yellow card in the 66th minute.
Given his position on the field and the quality in the England midfield, it makes sense for Schuller to be the most likely Finnish player to get booked.
