Paddy’s ambassador Joe Cole pits himself against the challenge of international football this week as he dives into a tricky assignment for Ireland away in Helsinki.
Heimir Halgrimsson suffered successive losses in his opening September window, and the Icelandic boss will hoping for a turnaround, as Joe gives his Finland v Ireland betting tips on Thursday in the Nations League.

The main men:
Ireland need goals, and obviously the emergence of Evan Ferguson is a positive, despite his career slightly stalling, and you have also Sammie Szmodics and Troy Parrott in there as well.
They can all score goals. Szmodics is someone I like, I love his movement, but it’s difficult making that transition from the Championship to the Premier League,
Ireland are in a huge rebuild at the moment, so I can see both teams scoring in this game, and I’m going for a draw in this one.
Positive signs:
I’m also going to go for Szmodics to score for Ireland in this game – to get his first international goal.
When I look at Ireland overall, they needed a performance against England, and after the first half it looked like it was going to be a disaster. But, there were positive signs in the second half and they need to build on that.
Score prediction:
Ireland need a new crop of youngsters to emerge, like Robbie Keane and Damien Duff, and then Irish eyes will be smiling again!
As an extra, I’m going for a score pick in this one, with a 1-1 draw.
