It’s Monday night football Paddy, but not as we know it. Yes, welcome one and all to the wonderful world of the EFL League Two. Monday nights will never be the same again.
The eyes of the world turn to Bradford v Newport as we prepare to hunker down for another international break. Our tipster Colin Harvey‘s run the rule over this game so you don’t have to. Here’s your three best bets.
Bradford v Newport tips
Short-priced play: Bradford to win
Value Bet: Andy Cook to score first
Long Shot: Bradford to win 1-0
WHEN: Monday 7th October, 8pm
WHERE: Valley Parade, Bradford

Short-priced play: Bradford to Win
As the rest of the world cowers in the face of another international break, League Two bravely steps up in defiance with a 13th v 9th contest in the shape of Bradford hosting Newport County. We are not worthy.
But in terms of a betting contest Paddy is heavily behind Bradford to win and it’s a feeling that’s mutual. The Exiles are higher in the fourth-tier table with 15 points to Bradford’s 12 but they have a woeful away record.
The south-Wales side have picked just three points on the road this term, a 1-0 win over 23rd-placed Morecambe back in August. The Bantams are unbeaten at Valley Parade and, as Newport don’t to draws, you have to fancy the hosts to rule the roost.
Value Bet: Andy Cook to score first
There’s a decent chance Newport draw a blank here in front of goal. They’ve scored three goals in their four away days this term but none in their last two.
With that in mind we turn to the home side for a potential goal scorer and Andy Cook looks to be the man. Bradford don’t score loads, 11 in 9 games, but he’s got four of them.
If we don’t think Newport are going to score and Cook’s most likely to for Bradford then it may be worth having a go on him to open the scoring.
Long Shot: Bradford to win 1-0
Value is a little tricky to find in this match, given that Bradford are big odds-on favourites to win this. However, a little dart at the correct score markets could be for you if you fancy your odds a little longer.
Bradford are not prolific scorers at home and have bagged just five goals across four games, firing a blank in two of those. This might not be the advert domestic football is looking for in the face of its international overlords, but a winner a Valley Parade pays as the same as a winner at Wembley, as the old saying goes.
As touched on before, The Exiles are on a two-game barren run in front of goal so this looks like it should be low scoring. I’m backing the Bantams to just nick it and if Cook could score it that would be the perfect way to stroll into the international break.
