Inter Milan’s Serie A title defence has endured a mixed start in the opening weeks of the 2024/25 campaign with just three wins from six league outings.
However, Argentina star Lautaro Martinez is keeping up his side of the bargain, with a superb burst of form, including three goals scored in his last two games across Serie A and the UEFA Champions League.
He’s the man in form for Simone Inzaghi and will lead the hosts attack once again at the San Siro.
Marcus Thuram 2+shots on target
France star Marcus Thuram is Inter Milan’s top scorer so far this season, with four scored, but he tends to score in bursts. Those four goals came in two games where he scored twice.
It’s more boom or bust with Thuram, and Martinez offers a little more consistency in front of goal, as demonstrated by his 27 league goals compared to Thuram’s 15 in 2023/24.
He’s managed at least one shot on target in his last three successive games in all competitions, and he could go at least one better against a Torino team, which has conceded an average of 5.5 shots on target against per game in Serie A this season.

Rennes lost 3-1 away at PSG last weekend, but their home form has been solid this season, with Julian Stephan’s team unbeaten in their three league games at Roazhon Park.
Arnaud Kalimuendo is their top scorer so far, with three goals, with one each scored in the last three games. However, as two of those came from the penalty spot, we are going to stretch this one out to a score or assist option for the France U23 international.

Kylian Mbappe to score
Carlo Ancelotti’s war with the fixture schedule has been handed a helping hand this week with an agreement in place for star man Kylian Mbappe to miss France duty.
Didier Deschamps confirmed Mbappe wants to use the international break to return to full fitness, following a minor hamstring problem, but Ancelotti has stated he will be fit to face Villarreal.
The 25-year-old is really starting to purr in Madrid, with a brilliant run of six goals from his last five starts, and he will be confident of netting against a Villarreal team which has failed to keep a clean sheet in their eight La Liga games this season.

Villarreal have lost just once this season and the Yellow Submarine continue to act as a bizarre home for random forgettable former Premier League names.
As Pepe Reina, Alberto Moreno, Francis Coquelin, Etienne Capoue all moved on this summer in came Ayoze Perez and former Arsenal transfer record holder Nicolas Pepe.
And from nowhere, the pair have been excellent in La Liga, with Perez second only to Robert Lewandowski in the top scorer list, with six goals.
However, he is a fitness doubt, so we are going with Pepe to cause a few problems for Los Blancos in the capital. He netted his first club goal in Monday’s 3-1 home win over Las Palmas and seven shots on target this season puts him top of that bracket for Villarreal.
