Mark Lawrenson's Premier League betting predictions

The 2024/25 Premier League season is in full swing and Paddy’s pal Mark Lawrenson is back to gaze into his crystal ball every single matchday.

The Soccer Soothsayer has read the signs and crunched the numbers to produce his Premier League predictions over the coming days. Let’s see what the future holds…

Saturday 12.30pm Crystal Palace v Liverpool

TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate

Crystal Palace are a little but all over the place, aren’t they, and they were beaten by Everton last week. With Liverpool being on the road this will be a bit tougher than people would imagine so I’ll go for a narrow away win. Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool.

Saturday 3pm: Arsenal v Southampton

I’d expect Arsenal to win this. They’re now saying that Russell Martin might lose his job which feels very, very harsh. That said, I think this will be a big home win. The problem for Southampton is that they can’t change the way that they play. That’s a worry for them but Arsenal should win this. Arsenal 3-0 Southampton.

Saturday 3pm: Brentford v Wolves

Wolves are not playing as badly as their points haul would suggest and they’ve had a nightmare run of games but Brentford don’t lose many at home and they’ve got a good manager in Thomas Frank. Wolves might just get that first win here. Brentford 1-2 Wolves.

Saturday 3pm: Leicester v Bournemouth

Bournemouth are good and I like the manager Andoni Iraola. I fancy his side to just squeak past Leicester here. Leicester 0-1 Bournemouth.

Saturday 3pm: Man City v Fulham

Fulham have back-to-back wins but this is Manchester City at home. Case closed. Manchester City 3-0 Fulham.

Pep Guardiola, Man city manager, october 2024

Saturday 3pm: West Ham v Ipswich

I’ll side with West Ham. They got a point last week so they’ve got something to work with. Ipswich have done well so far, they’ve looked quite comfortable. They do need a first win soon but I don’t think it will be here. West Ham 2-0 Ipswich.

Saturday 5.30pm: Everton v Newcastle

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Everton got their first win last weekend and every day that takeover gets closer to being done. I fancy Everton here. Anthony Gordon will get absolutely slaughtered and when you’re getting slaughtered at Goodison it’s not easy – trust me! Everton 2-1 Newcastle.

Sunday 2pm: Aston Villa v Man United

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Aston Villa will have had a day’s extra rest and they played at home during the week as well. Your man Jhon Duran came on an scored against Bayern Munich which is just amazing. I was listening to the reaction on the radio on my way home from Liverpool’s game on Wednesday and it sounded like they played really well. In terms of this game they might cancel each other out. Aston Villa 1-1 Manchester United.

Sunday 2pm: Chelsea v Nott’m Forest

I’m going to go for a Nottingham Forest win. You look at Chelsea, they’re doing really, really well but they’re due a bump in the road and you can see it happening with them. Forest are in good nick and they might try and pick them off just like they did when they beat Liverpool at Anfield. They’re a good side and everyone knows what they’re doing. Chelsea 1-2 Nottingham Forest.

Sunday 4.30pm: Brighton v Tottenham

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Brighton lost last weekend I think their start has been a little bit flattering. In the games I’ve seen they could easily have lost a few of them. Tottenham, it would be just like them to go there and get stuffed, but I’m going to side when them. Brighton 0-2 Tottenham.

Leicester 0-1 Bournemouth
