There are some big names in action around the continent on Thursday night for the Europa League group stage. The likes of Ajax, Roma, Lyon and Spurs are all involved and will all be looking to get their first points on the board.

Joining us earlier this week, we had a chat with former Chelsea and West Ham man Joe Cole to get us his Spurs v Qarabag betting tips.

Spurs to win
Both teams to score, no
Dominic Solanke to score

Spurs to win

This should be a win for Spurs. Qarabag turned up in the Champions League a few years ago. I remember watching them against Chelsea, and they looked like a team more suited to the Europa or Conference League. They were competitive but at the Champions League level they fell short.

This is a huge task for them.

Spurs are coming off the back of a good win over the weekend. I head Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou talking after the game about how happy he is with their performances but feels that they haven’t gotten the points that they deserve.

I’m not so sure. I think they’re still some weaknesses there but, having said that, I still think Spurs will win this game comfortably.

Both teams to score, no

I don’t see Qarabag scoring at all. Reluctantly I’m saying this: I love watching the way Postecoglou’s team plays and while they do give the opposition opportunities to score because they throw men forward, which is great for the neutral, I just feel that Spurs will have complete control of the game.

Dominic Solanke to score

I would imagine that Dominic Solanke will start the game. He’s had a false start at Spurs and now that he’s gotten his first goal I’m sure he’ll be saying to the manager, “listen, start me. Especially in this game, get me up to speed.”

At the end of the day, Solanke’s not massively experienced in Europe, so this would be a big thing for him, so I expect that he’ll want to start. The manager wants him to get fit, too. If he starts, he’ll score. He’s one of the most improved players over the last year. He’s been brilliant. It’s the perfect game for him.

  • Since Joe’s gone for Dominic Solanke to get on the scoresheet, we’re covered by Paddy’s Super Sub promo, meaning if he’s taken off during the game his replacement carries on with the pick.
