Mark Lawrenson's Premier League betting predictions

The 2024/25 Premier League season is in full swing and Paddy’s pal Mark Lawrenson is back to gaze into his crystal ball every single matchday.

The Soccer Soothsayer has read the signs and crunched the numbers to produce his Premier League predictions over the coming days. Let’s see what the future holds…

Saturday 12:30pm: West Ham v Chelsea

TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate

Chelsea nicked the game at Bournemouth and West Ham had that very late draw with Fulham. Fulham dominated it so that was a bit of a steal. You just don’t know what to think about Chelsea. As it’s a London derby I’ll go for a draw. West Ham 1-1 Chelsea.

Saturday 3pm: Aston Villa v Wolves

Wolves were leading against Newcastle and then lost. They’ve not won yet this season so you’d think Gary O’Neil is under a little bit of pressure, though he has signed a new contract. Villa are on the crest of a wave and beat Everton in another mad game. I fancy them to win this. Aston Villa 2-0 Wolves.

2-0 Correct Score

Saturday 3pm: Fulham v Newcastle

Fulham got done in the last minute with that goal from West Ham and Newcastle turned it round against Wolves. I just fancy Fulham here with home advantage, I don’t think that penalty loss to Preston in the Carabao Cup during the week will have any effect on them. Fulham 2-1 Newcastle.

17/2
2-1 Correct Score

Saturday 3pm: Leicester v Everton

Everton might well go 2-0 up and lose again. The thing with them is before the season you’d have bet on them struggling to score but to keeping loads of clean sheets and it’s a complete role reversal. Leicester should have beaten Palace. I’m going to bite the bullet and say Everton finally get it done this time. Leicester 1-2 Everton.

17/2
1-2 Correct Score

Saturday 3pm: Liverpool v Bournemouth

Bournemouth don’t travel very well so I’ll side with a big win for Liverpool. They did have that surprise loss at home to Nottingham Forest last week but followed it up with a good win away in the Champions League. Last week Forest were excellent and sometimes those results just happen. Liverpool 3-0 Bournemouth.

Saturday 3pm: Southampton v Ipswich

Ipswich had a good draw at Brighton, although they were under siege. I’m going to pick Ipswich to win this, from what I’ve seen so far they look a little better than Southampton. Saints are good at keeping the ball and all that, but Ipswich have just got a bit more about them and they know what a big game this is. Southampton 1-2 Ipswich.

9/1
1-2 Correct Score

Saturday 3pm: Tottenham v Brentford

Brentford should have been 3-0 up against Manchester City inside 25 minutes last week. Yoane Wissa went off early with an injury which will be a big blow to them as he’s out for a while. Spurs are going through all the drama again but they really should win this. Tottenham 2-0 Brentford.

2-0 Correct Score

Saturday 5.30pm: Crystal Palace v Man Utd

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Anything can happen with Manchester United and it was a car crash towards the end of the season. I’m going to go with United to just about win this. I’m not really worried about them beating Barnsley 7-0, it’s just that they are starting to look like they’re getting things together again. Marcus Rashford kind of sums them up and he’s looking in good form again. Crystal Palace 1-2 Manchester United.

Sunday 2pm: Brighton v Nottingham Forest

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Nottingham Forest were really, really good at Anfield last weekend and Brighton should have beaten Ipswich as they had loads of chances. Given their home advantage I’ll go for Brighton to keep their good start going. Brighton 2-1 Nottingham Forest.

13/2
2-1 Correct Score

Sunday 4.30pm: Man City v Arsenal

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

I was impressed with Arsenal against Spurs, they always looked like they were going to win even though they didn’t create many chances. Of the two teams you just felt it was going to be them. Manchester City could, honestly, have been 3-0 down at home against Brentford, they just weren’t quite at it, and Inter Milan created a few chances on Wednesday night as well.

I’m going to go with Arsenal to nick it and throw a cat among the pigeons. I’m just not quite sure all’s rosy at City at the moment, especially with those 115 charges hanging over them. They can say what they like but will be a distraction, especially for Pep Guardiola having to talk about it all the time. Manchester City 1-2 Arsenal.
