Real Betis v Getafe

La Liga match at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, Seville
TV: Premier Sports 1
KO: 6:00pm

Real Betis to win

We kick off Wednesday’s acca with what looks to be a solid shout for a home win. Manuel Pellegrini’s side have only lost once in La Liga action this season, away at Real Madrid, and they have won their two home league outings.

Victory over Leganes on Friday night extended their solid run. In midweek, they host another struggling side from the capital, as Getafe arrive in Andalucia without a win in their four league matches so far.

Brighton v Wolves

Carabao Cup match at the AMEX Stadium, Brighton
TV: Sky Sports+
KO: 7:45pm

Both teams to score

We are adding a splash of Carabao to this Wednesday cocktail as the cup action mixes with European games. Brighton were held to Premier League draws either side of the international break, and Wolves have won just once in four EPL clashes so far this season.

With neither side overly excited by the prospect of a midweek cup clash, ahead of Premier League games this weekend, it could go either way. Both teams have been firing this season though, with Brighton scoring in four from five and Wolves mirroring that.

Club Brugge v Borussia Dortmund

UEFA Champions League match at the Jan Breydel Stadium, Brugge
TV: TNT Sports 5
KO: 8:00pm

Over 2.5 goals

The Champions League action is split across three days this week and Wednesday has its fair share of games. Borussia Dortmund went all the way to the final last season, as they shocked a few on the way, and they open this season with a trip to Club Brugge.

It is difficult to call, as the hosts have won four successive Belgian league games, and Dortmund are unbeaten in their first three Bundesliga clashes.

Goals should be a feature. Two of Dortmund’s four games this season have included over 2.5 goals in total, and four of Brugge’s last five have broken that barrier.

Celtic v Slovan Bratislava

UEFA Champions League match at Celtic Park, Glasgow
TV: TNT Sports 2
KO: 8:0opm

Celtic to win to nil

It’s another season and another Champions League campaign for Celtic, as Brendan Rodgers again looks to make his mark on Europe’s top competition.

The rejigged format means more games, and home form in the cauldron of Celtic Park will be decisive for their chances of progressing into the knockout stages in 2025.

A perfect start to their league season has featured five wins from five, but the eye-catching statistic has been five clean sheets and they will be confident of slamming the Parkhead door on Slovan Bratislava.

PSG v Girona

UEFA Champions League match at the Parc des Princes, Paris
TV: TNT Sports 4
KO: 8:00pm

PSG to win and over 2.5 goals

Girona secured a first-ever Champions League qualification with a La Liga top four finish last season as part of a major shock in the Spanish top-flight.

However, despite the excitement of hosting the great and good of European football in the coming weeks, there is also the brutal reality of trips to PSG and others.

The French champions have shrugged off Kylian Mbappe’s exit by winning their first four Ligue 1 games of the season, with 16 goals scored, including over 2.5 in all four.

Girona’s 4-1 home humbling against Barcelona over the weekend shows the gap is still there and they could be in for a tough night in Paris.
