Paddy’s newest pundit, Joe Cole, is here to discuss two of his former clubs in Saturday evening Premier League action.
The prime Barclays midfielder focuses on a cagey affair in Aston Villa v Everton at tea time before his favoured Blues look to navigate the chaos in Bournemouth v Chelsea in the late kick-off.
Coley had a knack for finding the net, and he’s backed two players to do the same on Saturday evening. So, let’s dive into a tasty double header to quench the thirst for football the international break brought.
Premier League Saturday tips
5.30pm: Aston Villa v Everton
1-1 Draw
Morgan Rogers to score
8pm: Bournemouth v Chelsea
Chelsea to win 1-2
Cole Palmer to score
Aston Villa v Everton
WHEN: Saturday 14th of September, 5:30pm
WHERE: Villa Park, Aston
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
Everton have made an indifferent start, like they have for a few years, but they’ve got Sean Dyche in the building, who has been there and done it for their situation.
I watched the Bournemouth game and thought they created enough chances to win. They’re not as far adrift as people believe, and Aston Villa is a tough place to go.
Villa’s first Champions League game is coming up and they’ll have an eye on that. I will go out on a limb and say that Everton could nick a point in a 1-1 draw. I fancy Morgan Rogers to score for Villa. What a player he is.
Bournemouth v Chelsea
WHEN: Saturday 14th of September, 8pm
WHERE: Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth
TV: Sky Sports Main Event
Players will ignore the chaos behind the scenes and get on with their job if you have a settled squad. You’ve never got 100% of the team settled but if 80% are happy you’re in a good position.
With Chelsea, there are many players and question marks about who’s here for the long run. It’s another thing for the players to think about.
One of the owners might have signed one and not you and if you’ve got any business and it’s split at the top with competing voices it will filter down in some way. Enzo Maresca’s task is very tough, trying to stop that from infecting the squad.
There’s a lot of uncertainty around Chelsea; they’re very up and down. That’s what happens. You get performances like against Wolves and ones like at Crystal Palace.
Bournemouth have impressed me, but I was worried about them at the start of last season when Gary O’Neil left. Their recruitment has been fantastic. However, I can see an extremely scrappy 2-1 away win for Chelsea.
I will go for Cole Palmer, though he missed the England games with a slight injury and wasn’t quite himself against Crystal Palace. He’ll be ready for this game and back to his best.
