Footy tipster Andrew Beasley loves taking on the challenge of finding value in the players’ markets, and he’s come up with four picks for a Saturday night Bet Builder. Let’s get into his Bournemouth v Chelsea betting tips.

Having miraculously beaten one basketcase blue club before the international break, coming from 2-0 down in the 87th minute to win at Everton, Bournemouth now hosts one at the opposite end of the financial spectrum.
Chelsea are the visitors at the Vitality Stadium for a relatively rare 8pm kickoff on a Saturday. These sides met at Stamford Bridge for the final game of last season, with the home side winning 2-1. The Blues from West London drew 0-0 in this fixture last September, though the turnover in players at Chelsea makes any comparison with even a few weeks ago largely irrelevant.
This is a tough game to predict. Paddy Power thinks the visitors will win while the underlying data from last year gives Bournemouth a decent chance of an upset. Rather than focus on the match outcome, let’s look at some player picks.

Nicolas Jackson to score or assist
Chelsea’s top scorer in all competitions since the start of last season is Cole Palmer, with 26 goals. It’s been a very impressive year for ‘Cold’, especially after most people thought he was merely a mad transfer at a club famous for them when he moved from Manchester City for £40m.
However, discount his penalties for the sake of argument, and the Blues’ top goal-getter since summer 2023 is Nicolas Jackson. With 19 goals, he is for real.
At times a bit of a laughing stock, but enough about Chelsea, etc. Jackson has scored in five of his last eight Premier League matches, with six goals in total in those games. His form is good, so with Bournemouth always liable to give up a few chances, he can score or assist on the south coast on Saturday night.
Antoine Semenyo to have 1+ shots on target
If you had to name the player with the most shots in the Premier League this season, it’s unlikely that Antoine Semenyo would be your first answer. Or 10th, or maybe 100th. But he’s the man in question.
The Cherries’ attacking midfielder isn’t one of 10 players in the division to have a shot on target in all three games this term, though. Four of the group will likely feature here, in the form of Luis Sinisterra and Marcus Tavernier for the hosts, Jackson and Palmer for the visitors.
Nonetheless, Semenyo looks a good selection. He has had a shot on target in 23 Premier League matches since the start of last season when he had only started 28. Semenyo tested the Chelsea goalkeeper in May and should do so again here.
Welsey Fofana to commit 1+ fouls
It’s a pity Chelsea had to sell Conor Gallagher to help finance their bid to buy every obscure player on the market. He committed a foul in 33 Premier League matches last season, the most of anyone.
In one game, he was penalised six times and still avoided a booking. Forgot your cards, ref? Lewis Cook came close to matching that in Bournemouth’s last home game, committing five fouls without receiving a yellow.
The Cherries’ defensive midfielder gave away a couple of free kicks in the other two games this season too. While he has been booked, no player has yet committed more fouls without getting two cards. Cook should get one here to double his tally.
He also looks a certainty to commit a foul but there are better value options. Walking injury risk Welsey Fofana is one such player.
He missed the entirety of last season, as Mauricio Pochettino came and went. Fofana has appeared under five different Chelsea managers and doesn’t have more than nine appearances for any of them.
The last season in which he got significant minutes was 2020/21 while with Leicester City. He made 27 starts that season, committing fouls in 20 of them, and he’s three for three this term. There’s no reason to think Fofana won’t commit at least one foul in this match.
Marc Cucurella to be fouled 1+ times
Only five teams have been penalised for more fouls than Bournemouth across the first three weeks of the new season. Chelsea players had better remember to pack their shin pads for the trip.
Someone who seems to attract a lot of opposition ire is Marc Cucurella. Maybe it’s the hair? The Euro 2024 winner has made 24 league appearances since the start of 2023/24 and only escaped being fouled on four occasions. With a record like that, Cucurella looks a cert to be fouled one or more times by Andoni Iraola’s hatchet men.
