Eastleigh v Sutton United

National League match at the Silverlake Stadium, Eastleigh
TV: National League TV, Monday, 3:00pm

Both teams to score

Our first game of the acca sees two sides near the top of the table as first-placed Eastleigh welcome fourth-placed Sutton United.

Eastleigh have gotten off to a flying start in the National League this season, taking four wins from four games. Kelvin Davis’s side are the only ones to boast a 100% record and have scored nine goals.

Sutton are also unbeaten, having taken two wins and two draws from their opening game. Under the guidance of Steve Morison, the U’s have also scored nine goals, scoring at least one in all four of their games.

I expect a close game, with both sides in fine form and scoring plenty of goals. They are not susceptible to letting one in, either. Therefore, I’m backing both teams to score.

Oldham Athletic v Gateshead

National League match at Boundary Park, Oldham
TV: National League TV, Monday, 3:00pm

Both teams to score

Gateshead are another side that have started the National League in solid form. With three wins and one draw, the Tynesiders are second in the table, and with eleven goals to their name, they are currently the top scorers. Their most recent result saw them take a straightforward 3-1 win at home to Yeovil Town. Despite their excellent results, they have conceded in three of their four games.

The 2024/25 season has brought mixed fortunes to Oldham Athletic. They started perfectly with a 4-0 win over Braintree Town. However, that form has slipped, leading to a 4-1 defeat away at Aldershot Town on Saturday, their first of the season. With two wins, a draw, and that defeat, they currently sit eighth in the table.

It is another game between two sides capable of scoring a goal but also struggling to keep a clean sheet. So, I’m again backing both teams to score.

York City v Boston United

National League match at the LNER Community Stadium, York
TV: National League TV, Monday, 3:00pm

York City to win and over 2.5 goals

Another side unbeaten in the National League this season are York City who have taken two wins and two draws from their opening games, leaving them fifth in the table. Their wins came against Rochdale and Tamworth, beating both without conceding. However, they could not take the three points away at Sutton United on Saturday, drawing 2-2.

Boston United endured an appalling start to their campaign, losing 3-0 to Rochdale on the opening day, then 4-0 to Forest Green, and 2-0 to Southend United. They scored their first goal and picked up their first point on Saturday, drawing 1-1 with Tamworth. The solitary point took them off the foot of the table to 23rd.

With the away side’s dreadful record away from home, losing and conceding goals, it’s hard not to back York City to win and over 2.5 goals.

Maidenhead United v Barnet

National League match at York Road, Maidenhead
TV: National League TV, Monday, 3:00pm

Under 2.5 goals

Maidenhead United have endured a similar start to Boston United this season, having also only mustered one point so far. The Magpies earned their solitary point on Saturday thanks to a 0-0 draw with AFC Fylde. Low scores have been a theme for them this campaign, as they have only found the net once while also only conceding five,

Barnet have fared much better than their opponents, with three wins and one defeat this term. Their only defeat came on the opening day when they lost 2-1 to Halifax Town. They have since bounced back, winning three on the spin. Like Maidenhead, their games have been low-scoring, with them only bagging six goals.

With that in mind, I can’t see much action in this one and am happy to back under 2.5 goals.

Tamworth v Aldershot Town

National League match at The Lamb Ground, Tamworth
TV: National League TV, Monday, 3:00pm

Under 2.5 goals

Hosts Tamworth are winless so far this season, registering two draws and two defeats in their opening games. More notably, they have only found the net twice this season, their most recent being a 90+4 equaliser away at Boston United on Saturday. Their two points currently leave them 20th in the National League.

Aldershot Town recorded their biggest victory of the season on Saturday, winning 4-1 at home to Oldham Athletic. They are currently 7th in the league with two wins, the other being a 1-0 win away at Halifax Town last Tuesday, scoring only their second goal away from home.

With Tamworth’s knack for competing in games that lack goals and Aldershot’s low-scoring record away from the EBB Stadium, I am keen to back another under 2.5 goals.
