Shamrock Rovers are aiming to channel the spirit of 2011/12 as they push for the Europa League group stages. Rovers famously became the first Irish side to reach the group stages of the competition in that season and they are two games away from doing it again.
After dropping out of Champions League qualifying, the Europa League has seen Rovers step up, as an extra time win over NK Celje in the third qualifying round sets up a trip to Greece in the playoff first leg.
Goals have been feature of Rovers European adventure this summer, scoring in three out of six games, and after netting three in Dublin last week they will be confident of at least getting on the score sheet out in Thessaloniki.
Fiorentina v Puskas Akademia

Fiorentina are hoping for third time lucky in the Conference League this season after losing successive finals in 2023 and 2024.
The Italian side narrowly secured a spot in the qualifying rounds for the tournament via an 8th place Serie A finish last season and they need to get over this final hurdle to reach the group stages.
Puskas Akademia will not be looking for a lesson in Florence as they have produced some strong performance to make it to the playoffs. Three wins and a draw, including three goals scored in three of those matches, means they should test Fiorentina, even if the hosts edge the win.
Jagiellonia Białystok v Ajax

Ajax to win and under 2.5 goals
Ajax’s path to the Europa League playoffs needed a wild 13-12 penalty shootout win over Panathinaikos in the previous round. Their previous European games so far this season have been pretty low key with two 1-0 wins and a 1-0 loss in four outings.
They head to Poland to face a Jagiellonia Białystok who have never reached the Europa League group stages before, and whilst it might not be a goal-packed thriller, Ajax should return to Amsterdam with the win.
