Galatasaray to win
We’re into the Champions League play-offs for a spot in the group stages. There’s plenty on the line so we’re expecting fireworks for Wednesday’s fixtures.
First up is Young Boys v Galatasaray. The away side were hammered 5-0 by Besiktas in the Turkish Super Cup but they’ve bounced back by winning both of their Turkish Super Lig matches.
Galatasaray have plenty of quality in their squad, including the likes of Mauro Icardi, Dries Mertens and Michy Batshuayi.
They face a Young Boys side who are second bottom in the Swiss Super League after failing to win any of their first five outings, while also conceding 13 times in the process.
Young Boys could struggle to contain Galatasaray so we’re siding with an away win.
Over 2.5 goals
We’re on an away victory but we’re also expecting goals.
Over 2.5 has landed in all three of Galatasaray’s games this season, while the selection has been a winner in all seven of Young Boys’ outings. With the latter winning 10-0 in the Swiss Cup first round on Saturday.
That 100 per cent record is good enough for us!
Mauro Icardi to score
We’ve mentioned Galatasaray’s attacking threat and we’re sweet on Icardi to Score.
The 31-year-old netted 28 goals last season and he’s already off the mark this campaign after scoring in their 2-1 win against Hatayspor earlier this month.
Former Inter Milan and PSG forward Icardi averages over three shots per game and if Gala are to get a goal there are few more players likely to deliver one.
20:00: Midtjylland v Slovan Bratislava
Midtjylland to win
Next up is Danish side Midtjylland hosting Slovan Bratislava of Slovakia.
Midtjylland, who won the Danish Superliga last season, are unbeaten in all competitions this campaign and that trend should continue.
They won their Champions League second-round clash 4-0 on aggregate and they followed that up with a 3-1 aggregate win in the third round.
Midtjylland have scored two or more goals in six of their last eight games in all competitions and they face a Slovan Bratislava side who could struggle to match their quality.
20:00: Malmo FF v Sparta Prague
Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals
Finally, we’re focusing on Malmo FF v Sparta Prague.
Malmo, who are top of the Swedish top division, have lost just three of their 19 games this season while scoring 47 times in the process.
Their second qualifying round finished 6-4 on aggregate, with the last round ending up 6-5 over the two legs. We’re expecting that trend to continue so we’re all over Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals.
The selection has landed in eight of Malmo’s last 10 outings and it’s been a winner in five of Sparta Prague’s last seven games.
Sparta Prague’s second qualifying round ended up 6-2, with the third round finishing 4-3 after two legs. These two sides could be fairly evenly matched so hope the run of goals continues.
