Brentford v Crystal Palace Tips: Goals galore in our 3 best bets with a 16/1 shout

The starter to Sunday's main course sees these two London sides do battle.

Brentford v Crystal Palace Tips

It’s Premier League time, baby, and Sunday football is back with a bang this weekend.

Our tipster Andrew Cunneen‘s gearing up for the main event in Brentford v Crystal Palace. Sorry Chelsea and Man City fans but we’re honing in on three best bets for the day’s early game so let’s get going.

Brentford v Crystal Palace best bets

Crystal Palace to win
Ismaila Sarr to score anytime
Fabio Carvalho to score 2+ goals

WHEN: Sunday, 18th of August – 2pm
WHERE: Brentford Community Stadium
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Crystal Palace to Win

These two teams are at similar junctures, albeit via different routes. Palace? This will be their thirteenth straight season in England’s top tier, and they managed to maintain that status due to a sprinkling of top-end players, and a dollop of Roy Hodgson.

While the Patrick Vieira era clearly didn’t work out, at least the acceptance of that widespread enough for the club to go shopping, and go technical instead of big-name recognition.

And Oliver Glasner clearly wasn’t getting any attention after leaving Frankfurt, only Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea claimed more Premier League points since he was appointed than Palace did.

This feels like a season of optimism, which is a rare thing at the club given they took too long to graduate from survival mode.

With some clever signings and a removal from stereotypes, I can see them being too good for a Brentford side who are sticking with a manager because he met their expectations, and not because they believe he can bring them where they want to go. A battle of vibes? In theory.

Ismaila Sarr to Score Anytime

I think people forget how impactful Ismaila Sarr was in his tenure with Rennes because he was relegated twice with Watford – the junction where people go to wither.

Clearly Marseille saw enough to sign him, and that ability very much still exists.

He’s going to be a direct replacement for Michael Olise, and while I don’t expect a direct replacement for his production, I do think their patterns lend to their wide players getting into advanced positions and are encouraged to shoot.

He’s netted ten goals in fifty Premier League games, and while that doesn’t scream absolute goalscorer, it’s a decent return for the situation he was presented with.

Of course, playing in this market also means you benefit from Paddy Power’s Super Sub promo, which means we eliminate the risk of him not playing the 90 minutes – as his direct replacement will carry your bet after he takes to the field.

And if they’re chasing the game? He’s likely replaced by a striker. If they’re replacing him with a defender, there’s every chance they’re ahead, and he’s a likely contender to have been the one to net.

Fabio Carvalho to Score Twice or More

So, the only way in which I can see Brentford taking a result here is if their new arrivals propel them to a level we haven’t seen so far.

And before you come chiming in with the Ivan Toney takes, there’s so much smoke about him moving clubs that I wouldn’t even be surprised to see him left out of the squad.

Fabio Carvalho might be the best technical player to have played for Brentford to date, and he was so highly-thought of at Liverpool for good reason.

He’ll move with the ball to feet, shoot from distance, likely stand over set pieces and everything they do will go through him.
