Football Accumulator Tips: Our nifty 19/1 play for Saturday’s League One action

Our tipster Colin Harvey sets us up for an action-packed Saturday at 5.30pm

Saturday’s football tips

Birmingham v Reading – Birmingham (-1)
Exeter v Rotherham – Rotherham to Win
Stockport v Cambridge – Stockport to Win
Wrexham v Wycombe – Wrexham to Win

5.30pm: Birmingham v Reading – Birmingham (-1)

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football

Big spending Birmingham City get underway at St Andrews with Reading heading to the Midlands. There’s huge pressure on Chris Davies to win this league and he’s been backed, so far, to the tune of about £10m which is unheard of at this level.

The Royals are on the other end of the spectrum and they’re effectively under a transfer embargo with the club going through the process of changing hands. This is a proper mismatch on paper and it would be a surprise of Birmingham don’t clear their (-1) handicap.

5.30pm: Exeter v Rotherham – Rotherham to Win

TV: Sky Sports+

Rotherham are also expected to go well in the third tier this season and Steve Evans has been hard at work, bringing in a whole new starting XI and a couple of subs for good measure. Exeter themselves have signed nine so there’s plenty up in the air coming into this match.

A sign of where the power may lie is in one of the Millers’ new signings, Zak Jules. He was one of Exeter’s best players last season but snubbed a new contract with the Grecians to head to the New York Stadium.

Rotherham keeper Cam Dawson and striker Sam Nombe have also been two of City’s best players since the start of the decade and all three would be in their starting XI if still at the club. It’s early in the season and everything’s up for grabs but it feels like the smart money’s on a Rotherham Win at a nice-enough price, too.

5.30pm: Stockport v Cambridge – Stockport to Win

TV: Sky Sports+

Stockport topped last season’s League Two table and are widely fancied to do alright in the next league up this time around. Cambridge ended up four points clear of relegation but they might not have such a cushion come May 2025.

County have a bit of cash and are upwardly mobile while the same can’t be said for the U’s. There will be a fair bit of expectation from the fans at Edgeley Park and I’m backing them to go home happy after a Stockport Win.

5.30pm: Wrexham v Wycombe – Wrexham to Win

TV: Sky Sports+

The Hollywood content train rolls in to League One on Saturday evening with Wycombe the unsuspecting villains. There’s a chance Wrexham stroll through this league to make it back-to-back-to-back promotions, but this league will be a tricky challenge and last season’s 10th-placed side will be a good barometer of where The Town are.

Paddy has Wrexham as 4th favourites for the title and that’s probably about right. There’s a good chance Wrexham Win this game though and, with home advantage and the price on offer, I’ll hope to capitalise on that.
