Les Bleus showed the grit for battle against Egypt, equalising late on to secure extra time, and then putting their foot down to avoid penalties and they could squeeze out an inexperienced Spain team.

Three of Spain’s overall 11 goals have been scored in the first period, so this tie has all the ingredients for a slow burner in Paris, where late goals could be crucial.

France won all three games in the groups, without letting any in at the other end, so thus scored first in all of them. They followed that pattern with victory over Argentina with the semi final clash with Egypt the only game they have not scored first in the tournament.
Spain have been behind twice, winning one and losing the other, and they do not look likely to be given a chance to bounce back if France strike first.
