Short-Priced Punt: Norwich to Win

Oxford get their Championship campaign started in tricky style against Norwich who finished in the second-tier playoffs last season. The U’s won the League One version in 2023/24 but the Canaries will be looking to go one better this season and get back into Premier League.

It feels like it’s going to be a long, hard season for Oxford while this is exactly the kind of game Norwich will need to be winning with ease if they’re to achieve their pre-season ambition of promotion. The U’s will be right up for it but Norwich to Win is too good a price to miss.

Value Play: Brannagan to Score Or Assist

Cameron Brannagan played a huge part in Oxford’s promotion last season with their talisman scoring 13 and setting up another 11 in 50 appearances across all competitions. He’s been one of the best players in League One for a while and it will be fascinating to see how he fares in the division above.

This will be a stern test for him and his team-mates and they shared the goals around a fair bit last season. With the double threat of setting them up and knocking them in, Cameron Brannagan to Score Or Assist is a nice play.

Long Shot: HT Oxford/FT Norwich

I do fancy Oxford to start fast but for Norwich to overpower them in the end, and there’s potential to make a big-priced play on that basis. The Kassam may still be missing that fourth stand but the three that exist will be right behind their team from the off.

It’s perhaps understandable that they will start faster than the Canaries but Norwich should have too much class once the dust settles. They might have to come from behind at half time and they can take advantage of that nervous energy being expended with this Half Time Oxford, Full Time Norwich punt.
