Slavia Prague v Union St Gilloise – Under 2.5 Goals

We’re gearing up for the start of the EFL season this weekend and the Community Shield at Wembley, however, we’ve got Champions League and Europa Conference Qualifiers to get stuck into on Wednesday first. It’s the third qualifying round before the tense play-offs to see who makes the cut.

First up is Slavia Prague v Union St Gilloise in the Champions League. The home side have already kicked off their season in the Czech First League, winning two and drawing one. They’ve scored five in those three outings and they’re still yet to concede.

Slavia, who lost against AC Milan in the Europa League Round of 16 last season, lost the league by two points with Sparta Praha winners. While they usually score for fun in their domestic league, we’re expecting a tighter affair here.

Union St Gilloise are a decent side and they beat Club Brugge in the Belgian Super Cup final last month. They’re unbeaten since the end of April and we could see these two teams cancel each other out as they get the feel of one another in the first leg. As a result, we’re not expecting much action so our first pick is Under 2.5 Goals.

Hacken v Paide Linnameeskond – Hacken -2

From the Champions League to the Europa Conference now as Swedish side Hacken host Paide Linnameeskond from Estonia.

Hacken, who finished third in the Swedish top division behind Malmo and IF Elfsborg last season, won their second qualifying round 12-3 on aggregate after scoring six in both legs. They’ve scored 25 times in their last seven outings, which is an average of 3.57 goals per game.

They should have too much attacking quality for Paide, who won their last qualifying round 5-2 on aggregate against Stjarnan of Iceland.

Instead of backing Hacken at the prices, we’re siding with them on the -2 Handicap, meaning we need them to win by three or more goals, which they’ve done in their last three outings.

Paks v FK Mornar – Paks -1

Next up is Paks of Hungary hosting Montenegro’s FK Mornar.

Paks, who beat AEK Larnaca 5-0 on aggregate in the second qualifying round, are the heavy favourites to win in front of their home crowd. They’re unbeaten in their last five in all competitions and they’ve scored 11 times over that period, while conceding just three goals.

Mornar finished second in the Montenegrin First League last season and they just edged past Radnicki on penalties in the last qualifying round. Wednesday’s trip could be a tough one for them so we’re backing Paks -1 on the Handicap, meaning they must win by two or more goals.

FC Copenhagen v Banik Ostrava – Copenhagen & Over 2.5 Goals

Finally, we’re in Copenhagen as the 15-time Danish Superliga winners host Banik Ostrava of the Czech Republic.

Copenhagen beat Manchester United in the Champions League last season while also getting the better of Galatasaray and drawing with Bayern Munich. They were undone in the Round of 16 after facing Manchester City over two legs, with Pep Guardiola’s side winning 6-2 on aggregate.

They won their second qualifying round 8-1 on aggregate and they should have far too much quality for Banik Ostrava, who hammered Urartu of Armenia 7-1 over two legs last time out.

Copenhagen will be desperate to get back into the Champions League this season so expect them to put in a dominant performance at home.

Copenhagen to Win is the obvious pick but we’re adding in Over 2.5 Goals for a bit of value. There have been three or more goals in six of their last eight outings so the statistics are on our side!
