Football Tips: 6/1 Scottish and EFL Championship title double for 2024/25

Who will push for the Premier League promised land in 2024/25?

Don’t even think about taking a break……

The Euros and Copa America may have only just ended, but the English domestic season is just around the corner, with the Scottish Premiership back from August 3 and the EFL Championship campaign kicking off on August 9.

As the excitement of Spain’s Euro title win dies down, and the swelling on Lionel Messi’s ankle reduces, the day job is back on the horizon.

But, fear not there is plenty to get stuck into and Paddy has you covered with all the key EFL Championship and Scottish Premiership markets available on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app.

Ahead of the new season, Paddy takes a look at the Scottish Premiership and EFL Championship outright markets in 2024/25, including title winners and promotion.

Leicester City eventually sealed the second tier title last season, ahead of second place Ipswich Town, as Southampton hauled themselves up via the playoffs with Celtic lifting a third successive league crown.

Who will lead the charge this time and who could be the playoff kings next May?

EFL Championship Title Winners: Leeds United

The crucial factor in any EFL Championship title race is often how the relegated Premier League trio fare after dropping through the top-fight trap door.

Burnley have swapped Vincent Kompany for Scott Parker but Sheffield United and Luton Town have stuck by Chris Wilder and Rob Edwards.

All three could lose players before the end of August, with Ross Barkley already moving on from Luton to Aston Villa, as the transfer window swings open.

With that uncertainty still in the air, Leeds’ frustration from last season could be the power surge they need to get back to the Premier League, under leadership of ‘promotion specialist’ ™ Daniel Farke.

Farke led Norwich to the EFL Championship crown twice, in 2019 and 2021, meaning two of the last six titles have been won by him and he pulled Leeds to the playoffs in his first season in 2023/24.

They came so close last season, and despite the departure of fans favourite Archie Gray, they still have the core of their team in place and Farke has the all important know how to get through a brutal 46-game season.

Scottish Premiership Title Winners: Celtic

In the least surprising preseason news flash, the Scottish Premiership will be a two-horse title dash again next season, as Rangers aim to summon the spirit of Steven Gerrard to drag back Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic.

Across the last three campaign, Celtic have won the league by an average of six points, and despite a few scares from Phillippe Clement’s team last season, that does not look to have changed.

A Champions League run will be the real benchmark for Rodgers in the coming months as he looks to bring them into the knockouts for the first time in over a decade.

EFL Championship Promoted: Middlesbrough / Burnley

The battle to potentially join Leeds in the Premier League in 2025/26 could involve around a dozen teams with one automatic spot available via second place plus one extra place in the playoffs.

In the battle of the Premier League relegated teams, Burnley look to have an edge, with Parker’s move to Turf Moor clearly done with an eye on immediate promotion.

Parker’s hair looked as glorious as ever as he gleefully took the reins in Lancashire, and he is not just a pretty barnet having won promotion with two different clubs after previously guiding Fulham and Bournemouth back up to the Premier League promised land.

They have retained their key players, so far, and he will be keen on another shot at the Premier League with the Clarets ownership happy to back him in the transfer market.

Burnley To be Promoted 2024/25

Another former Premier League midfielder involved in the EFL Championship promotion shake up is Michael Carrick at Middlesbrough.

Boro have made various attempts to claw their way back into the Premier League, since relegation in 2017, including two playoff losses.

However, under Carrick’s leadership they continue to make strides, and only missed out on the playoffs by four points last season.

There is a growing sense of now or never for Carrick at Boro, with the likelihood of a Premier League offer coming in for him in the near future, and promotion would be the perfect possible exit gift.
