Sunday, July 10 – 8pm: Spain v England
Euro 2024 Final match at Olympiastadion, Berlin
Where to watch: BBC1, ITV1, RTE2

I thought we played really against the Dutch, much better than before. It feels like we’ve grown into the tournament.

Kobbie Mainoo was sensational – for a kid of 19 to run the game the way he did was something else. Phil Foden as well was better, Bukayo Saka’s been our most dangerous player and was again. John Stones, Marc Guehi, there were great performances all over the pitch.

There are some complaints about the VAR decision on the penalty and let’s be honest, ten years ago that’s not a penalty, but it is now. And once the ref goes to look at the screen there’s only going to be one outcome, isn’t there?

As difficult as it will be against Spain, who are deserved favourites as they’ve been electric, England must be full of confidence after winning like they did.

Ollie Watkins got the goal but I can’t see Gareth Southgate changing the team much for the final.

I’ve been in the position before where you go into a tournament being on the bench but you just don’t know what’s going to happen with injuries, suspensions and the like.

You can be the man to turn it all around. That’s the way you have to look at it when you’re in the squad.

I’ve felt it myself, being down on the touchline with the subs warming up and you say to someone “we can get on and make an impact here”. You really believe it and when you do have that mindset, it can happen.

I’ve come on for ten minutes in games and scored the winner. It’s a great feeling. And it’s good to see everyone’s buying into it in the squad.

I can’t see any changes to the starting team though. Luke Shaw, potentially, could come in at left-back for Kieran Trippier, who has done a good job filling in out of position. There is a risk given his injuries general fitness after being out for so long though, so I think it’ll be the same team most likely.

Also, it’s worth saying about all the negativity surrounding Gareth Southgate – he took Phil Foden and Harry Kane off and brought Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer on and they changed the game.

You can’t really argue with that.

Now it’s just one more game. I’m going and cannot wait.

Spanish teams in general always seem to have great team cohesion and this one is no different. Often we’ve been more like a team of individuals coming together and thinking it’ll click. They always look a well-drilled, good unit.

That’s their real strength at this tournament. It looks like they’ve played together all their lives. They feel like a club team.

Even though we’re better nowadays in possession, they’ll probably still control the ball in the final.

Lamine Yamal To Have 1 or More Shots on Goal

The two wingers have really impressed for them too. Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal look so talented.

Dani Olmo a big threat as well. I’ve always liked him as a player, but we’ve seen the wide players look so dangerous. I can’t believe how young he is and already looks like a superstar.

I’d fancy him to have a shot on target here.

ENGLAND TO LIFT THE TROPHY

But we’ve got players that can hurt them too.

And on paper, if you go through the teams, I think you’d have to say we have the better individuals. There are not many I’d replace in our side from their team, but they’re favourites here because of how they’ve performed together throughout the tournament.

That means it’ll be a very tough game and makes it difficult to call, but I cannot bet against England, so I’m hoping we can edge it 2-1 – it always feels like it’s only ever going to be one goal with England.

Phil Foden to Have 1 or More Shots on Target

Things are due to come good for Phil Foden. He hit the post and had one cleared off the line against the Netherlands and I thought he played well.

I fancy him to score but a shot on target should be good for sure.

Jude Bellingham to Commit 1 or More Fouls

Rodri to Commit 1 or More Fouls

Jude Bellingham’s been pretty consistent with fouls and cards so far in the tournament and doesn’t mind getting stuck in – I like that about him  – so I can definitely see him making another foul at least in the final.

Rodri regularly makes tactical fouls for Man City too and will be no different for Spain.
