Uruguay’s four games at the 2024 Copa America have either been goal filled or goal shy as they aim for a final spot. The opening two games of the tournament featured 3-1 and 5-0 wins over Panama and Bolivia respectively.
However, their final group clash was a 1-0 victory over hosts USA, followed by a 0-0 in the quarters against Brazil. A penalty shootout saw them past the Samba Boys and as the tournament progresses, Marcelo Bielsa’s team are becoming cagier, and that could decisive here.
Over 5.5 Uruguay Corners
Uruguay have plenty of height in their ranks and Bielsa will be happy to use corners and free kicks as a route to goal against Colombia.
They managed six against Brazil, and if they can start at a quick pace in North Carolina, they could at least match that to try and threaten the Colombia goal.
Darwin Nunez to score
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez will lead the Uruguay attack once again after starting all four of their games so far at the Copa. He netted in both games against Panama and Bolivia, and despite having just two goals, he’s still in the 2024 Copa America Golden Boot race.
No Uruguay player has taken more shots (16) or registered more shots on target (5) than Nunez so far in the USA and he also netted a 90th minute equaliser against Colombia in their 2026 World Cup qualifying meeting in October.

Luis Diaz to have 1+ shots on target
There is a Merseyside vibe to this Copa showdown with Nunez fronting up for Uruguay and his Liverpool teammate Luis Diaz impressing for Colombia.
He also has two goals in the tournament, including one in the 5-0 quarter final win over Panama, as part of four successive starts. He has managed one shot on target in his last three games and his pace and directness will be a test for Uruguay.
