Saturday, July 6: 20:00 – Turkey v Netherlands
Euro 2024 Quarter-Final match – Berlin
TV: ITV1/RTE2
Both teams to score
Turkey have been the great entertainers at Euro 2024 and another action-packed contest involving the Crescent Stars could be on the cards in the German capital.
Each of Turkey’s four games at the tournament have featured over 2.5 goals, with both teams getting on the scoresheet in three of them. Vincenzo Montella’s vibrant young side have failed to score in just one of their last 10 competitive assignments, while the Dutch have blanked just twice since exiting Euro 2020. The two teams have combined to score in five of their eight matches at Euro 2024 and all the ingredients are in place for another BTTS winner in Berlin.
Virgil van Dijk to commit 1+ fouls
Virgil van Dijk has developed an unusual habit of getting into bother with referees at Euro 2024. The Dutch skipper has given away a joint tournament-high of ten fouls across his opening four appearances of the competition. What’s more, seven of those fouls have been committed in his last two outings. Given the magnitude of this match, as well as the high-energy Turkey play with, van Dijk’s foul streak is expected to continue at the Olympiastadion.

Baris Alper Yilmaz to be fouled 1+ times
If van Dijk continues to fall foul of the referee on Saturday night, then don’t be surprised to see Turkey’s Baris Yilmaz on the receiving end of a mistimed challenge. The 24-year-old has started up front in each of Turkey’s four games at Euro 2024 and has drawn an average of two fouls per 90 minutes across that period.
The fiery forward will relish the duel with van Dijk and Stefan de Vrij and he can draw at least one free kick for his country in the process.
Hakan Calhanoglu to commit 2+ fouls
Turkey’s Hakan Calhanoglu is available again after serving a one-game suspension against Austria and his combative streak will be back on show against the Netherlands. The Turkey captain was reprimanded twice by the referee in each of his opening two appearances of the competition before committing a solitary foul against the Czech Republic on matchday three.
The Inter Milan midfielder was also a serial offender in Serie A last season, further suggesting he isn’t afraid to do the dirty work when required. Calhanoglu can afford to ramp up his aggression against the Dutch, as he is no longer walking a suspension tightrope, making him a prime candidate to commit another couple of fouls during this capital clash.
