Friday 5pm: Spain v Germany
Euro 2024 quarter-final match at the Stuttgart Arena
TV: ITV1 and RTE 2

The first of this week’s Euro 2024 quarter-finals are upon us with an absolute cracker in Spain v Germany. Spain have arguably been the team of the tournament up until this point, while Germany are the host nation and will have a formidable boost from the fans inside the MHP Arena.

You can expect both coaches to go to the bench to get their side over the line and with Paddy Power that’s GOOD news! With our Super Sub offer your bet on certain markets simply carries over to the player coming on. Still not sure what we’re waffling on about? Check out our Paddy Power Super Sub explainer.

Fabian Ruiz to have 1 or more Shots on Target

The wide players Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams have grabbed the headlines for this brilliant Spanish team so far at Euro 2024 but it’s Fabian Ruiz that has perhaps been their best player.

The PSG man has played just three games, having been rested in Spain’s final group game, a dead rubber, but has scored two goals, as well as assisting two more. He’s been constantly popping up in attacking positions and has averaged an astonishing 3.7 shots per game, with five on target over his three games. That’s higher than anybody else in this Spain team and it must be backed here.

Jamal Musiala to have 1 or more Shots on Target

The Bayern Munich youngster has been the standout player for Germany over his four games, scoring three goals. He’s been doing this for years in Bundesliga, with 10 goals this campaign, but this feels like a breakout moment that’s made him a household name globally.

He’s had 1.8 shots per game so far, with an average of one per game being on target. That’s a strong average and although he might not add to his three goals, we should be confident that he can at least get one of his shots on target.

Robin Le Normand to Commit 1 or more Fouls

Real Sociedad’s Robin Le Normand came into this tournament as the least well-known of the Spanish starting lineup but he’s made a name for himself in Germany. One area of his game that has been an issue is his fouling, he’s picked up just one card, a yellow against Italy, but has consistently given away freekicks.

He’s committed eight fouls so far, the highest number on the Spanish team, at an average of 2.29 per 90 minutes on the field. Against a German side that can call on the movement and speed of Musiala, Kai Havertz, Leroy Sane, and Florian Wirtz, there could be problems and Le Normand looks value to commit at least one foul.

Marc Cucurella to be Fouled 1 or more Times

If you’ve watched Chelsea over the past two seasons then it’s probably quite a shock to see Marc Cucurella performing so well at this level. The leftback has been galloping up the flanks for Spain, looking both dangerous in attack and doing great work defensively too.

Despite playing behind Williams on the left flank and being in a team with Yamal, Pedri, and Alvaro Morata, it’s Cucurella that leads Spain in fouls won, by a reasonable margin too, with six fouls won in just three games, with Rodri next up on four. His rampaging runs down the left wing have caused problems for defences and again we’re being offered a big price, so let’s take it.

Robert Andrich to be shown a Card

So far Bayer Leverkusen’s Robert Andrich has just one card to his name in four appearances but he’s been acting as the enforcer for the German team, doing the dirt work alongside Toni Kroos and providing the platform for the team’s talents to shine.

He’s averaged 2.91 fouls per 90 minutes on the field so far and given the quality in the Spanish midfield of Ruiz, Rodri, and Pedri, there’s every chance that he’s going to have a very tough evening and is likely to commit more fouls and get his second booking of the tournament.
