Paddy ambassador Phil Thompson is back for the final game of the quarter final stage at Euro 2024 and looking to end it with a bang.
Thommo landed 6/1 and 17/1 winners on Germany v Denmark on Saturday last to get the knockouts off to a flyer and is now looking at Ronald Koeman’s fancied Oranje side taking on ever-dark horses Turkey.
Saturday, July 6 – 8pm: Netherlands v Turkey
Euro 2024 Quarter Final match in Berlin
TV: ITV1 and RTE2
Netherlands are deservedly the only side coming into the quarter-finals with an odds-on price.
Turkey, for a long time, only really scored from set pieces and then they’d defend it. I think they had only six attempts on goal in their Last 16 match against Austria.
I was listening to Ralf Rangnick after the game and he was quite right, he said that Austria didn’t take their chances so I think Turkey will be right up against it.
Their set plays could cause problems, but the Dutch have big Virgil van Dijk and Nathan Ake. There is a lot of height in their defence.
Saying that, the Netherlands can be gotten at as well. They lost 2-3 to Austria in their final group game and the Turkish fans will make it an absolute spectacle. Against Austria they were wonderful.
I’m going for the Netherlands though, I see them winning 2-0 and progressing to the semi-final against the might of England.
For my Bet Builder I’ll go with Netherlands to Win, Cody Gakpo to Score, Memphis Depay to Score and Xavi Simons to have 1 or more Shots on Target
