Ukraine Goalkeeper to Make 2+ Saves
Head Coach Serhiy Rebrov chose to swap goalkeepers for Ukraine’s matchday two test against Slovakia and his move to pick Anatolii Trubin over Andriy Lunin proved an inspired piece of decision-making. Real Madrid starlet Lunin was at fault for two of the three goals Ukraine conceded against Romania in their Euro 2024 opener, though Trubin provided a much steadier presence against Slovakia and made four crucial saves.
Trubin’s reflexes are likely to be tested just as much by a purring Belgian attack featuring Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. Belgium hit nine shots on target in their 2-0 win over Romania at the weekend and only three teams (Germany, Croatia, and Czechia) managed to rack up more accurate attempts in a single fixture at the Euros so far. This Ukrainian backline is far from watertight and conceded ten shots on target across their first two Group E matches, so expect Trubin could be called into action.
Volodymyr Brazkho to Commit 2+ Fouls
Ukraine needed to take steps on matchday two to shore up the alarming defensive gaps that were on display in their 3-0 reverse to Romania and the drafting of workhorse Volodymyr Brazhko into midfield allowed them to plug some of those holes. Winning only his sixth cap for Ukraine, the unphased 22-year-old brought ball-winning grit to proceedings and he could do the same against Belgium.
Brazhko made three tackles and committed two fouls during his combative showing against the Slovakians and his penchant for a crunching challenge could be on display again in Stuttgart. If the game develops as it should, Belgium will likely dominate at least 60% possession, and with a sizable defensive workload to plough through, Brazhko’s tackle and the foul count could be high again.

Romelu Lukaku to Have 2+ Shots on Target
Lady Luck hasn’t been kind to Romelu Lukaku at Euro 2024 so far and despite averaging an impressive 4.00 shots and 2.50 shots on target per 90 minutes in Germany, the 31-year-old still hasn’t opened his account. Lukaku has had three goals across two Group E appearances chalked off by VAR, though he has also been guilty of missing some guilt-edged opportunities elsewhere.
Lukaku’s teammates have been providing him with a consistent supply of chances however, and the centre-forward has lodged more shots on target in total (five) than any other player at Euro 2024 so far. As the focal point of the Belgian attack, Lukaku should get more sights at goal against Ukraine in Stuttgart and even if he fails to convert again, he should be able to get at least two shots on target for the third game running.
Kevin De Bruyne to be Fouled 2+ Times
World-class operator Kevin De Bruyne was at his impactful best for Belgium against Romania, though the 32-year-old came in for some rough treatment for the second game in a row in Group E and the midfielder had to show strength of character to absorb some heavy challenges. The Man City maestro was fouled four times by his Romanian markers and the match-winning talisman could have a target on his back again against Ukraine.
De Bruyne was also fouled twice against Slovakia on matchday one, and only five players competing at Euro 2024 have been fouled more often than the pass-master so far. Ukraine’s total foul tally meanwhile, bumped up from eight against Romania to 12 against Slovakia between matchdays one and two, and the extra aggression brought to the midfield battleground by Volodymyr Brazhko seemed to have an impact in that department. Brazhko will be patrolling the same spaces that De Bruyne likes to explore in Stuttgart and the Belgian skipper could be fouled multiple times again as a consequence.
