Tuesday, June 25: 20:00 – Denmark v Serbia
Euro 2024 Group C match – Munich
TV: ITV4 / RTE Player

While most eyes will be on Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions in Cologne, there’s still a lot riding on this game, with some tasty bets to boot. Assuming England get the job done against Slovenia, this game is pretty much a straight shootout for second place in Group C.

Denmark are the better-placed of the two sides, with a draw enough to take them through to the knockout stages (should England win) in second or as one of the best third-placed teams (if England draw). Serbia, meanwhile, will face an anxious wait to see if they are among the best third-placed teams should Tuesday’s clash end in a stalemate.

Both Teams to Score

The onus is on Serbia to take the game to Denmark, which should make for an entertaining game. Neither side has kept a clean sheet in the tournament so far, with each side conceding one goal apiece in each match.

They have hardly been clinical in front of goal at the other end, scoring just three goals between them in the tournament so far.

However, both of them have created enough chances – against Slovenia anyway – to suggest that there will be goals.

Serbia to Commit 13 or More Fouls

Serbia have averaged over 13 fouls per game at the Euros so far, but the foul counts in their opening two games are so wildly contrasting that it is hard to know what to expect.

They conceded just eight fouls in their draw with Slovenia last time out but conceded a whopping 19 fouls in their opening-day defeat against England.

On the surface, it does make sense that they conceded more fouls against the better side who also enjoyed the majority of the ball.

Denmark are also likely to dominate the ball, considering they enjoyed almost 70% possession against Slovenia and edged the possession statistics against England.

Considering what’s at stake, it’s not far-fetched to suggest that Serbia will commit a relatively high number of fouls.

Denmark to have Five or More Shots on Target

Denmark dominated on almost every metric in their 1-1 draw against England, registering 16 shots and seven shots on target.

They were slightly more wayward against Slovenia when they also registered 16 shots but only found the target on four occasions.

However, they have shown that they are capable of creating shooting opportunities against different levels of opposition and are decent value to register five efforts on goal against a Serbia outfit that faced 11 shots against Slovenia last time out.

Corner Match Bet: Denmark

Denmark’s statistical dominance against England extended to the corner count, which saw the Danes win four corners to England’s two.

They also won the corner count against Slovenia by nine corners to five.

Serbia, meanwhile, have also won the corner match bet in each of their two games to date, winning two corners to England’s one in the opening game and nine corners to Slovenia’s four in their 1-1 draw.

However, Denmark are likely to enjoy significantly more possession and stand a decent chance of outshooting their Serbian opponents.

That dominance should also extend to the corner count.

Aleksandar Mitrovic to have Two or More Shots on Target

Aleksandar Mitrovic has made goalscoring contributions in each of his two appearances at international tournaments for Serbia, but he has yet to score at Euro 2024.

He came close against Slovenia last time out, hitting the target on two occasions, including one close-range effort that was well-smothered by Jan Oblak.

Mitrovic is by far the most likely Serbia player to find the back of the net and he is decent value to test Kasper Schmeichel on at least two occasions.

Denmark have faced at least 11 shots in each of their two games at the competition so far and Serbia will have to put them under pressure at some point.

There is every chance that Mitrovic hits the target at least twice.
