England to Win 2-0

Phil Thompson gave us his verdict on England’s dire display against Denmark last week – including calling for three star players to be dropped. 

After a weekend of… relaxing… Thommo is back in the groove and feeling confident of their chances of seeing off a Slovenia side who have drawn both games 1-1 so far.

England will win this game. I have no doubts about that.

But performance-wise I wouldn’t expect a marauding England – Slovenia are going to sit back and make it very difficult. That’s why it’s hard. It’s a huge game for them.

They need to play better and I’m expecting changes in the line-up.

They need that victory, and I can’t see Slovenia getting anything.

They have two points, and realistically if they want to go through they need to win this, but you can bank on it they will just counter-attack.

I’m backing England to win 2-0.
