Belgium began their Euro 2024 campaign with a shocking 0-1 loss to Slovakia. They huffed and puffed and Romelu Lukaku twice had a goal chalked off by VAR and now Belgium need to find a win.
Romania raised a few eyebrows in their demolition job of Ukraine, winning 3-0 thanks to some great long-range efforts. We sat down with Paddy’s Pal Phil Thompson to get his thoughts on what’s going to go down in Cologne on Saturday night.

Belgium have a great squad, but have they gone past their sell-buy date? Romelu Lukaku scored two in the warm-up games and got two against Slovakia too, albeit they were ruled out.
They’ve got Leandro Trossard, Kevin De Bruyne, and Jeremy Doku all in there, and Amadou Onana of Everton too. You just look at think ‘Wow, they’ve got a great side’.
Both of Romania’s warm-up games ended 0-0. So there was no firepower there. But then they go and put three past Ukraine in the opener. I’m expecting Belgium to bounce back from that shock opening defeat. I fancy Belgium to Win this 3-0.
