Phil Thompson is back to give us his Poland v Austria predictions for Friday’s Euro 2024 clash in Berlin.
Robert Lewandowski and Co. are in Group D alongside Austria, France and The Netherlands – and Poland are in desperate need of points and quick if they have any chance of reaching the knockout stages.
How far will Poland go? Many are tipping up Michal Probierz’s side to crash out in the group stages in Germany.
Thommo delves into whether Poland can get anything against Austria to keep their Euro 2024 hopes alive or whether they will be heading home.

This is a massive game for both. Poland have to do something if they want to have any chance of progressing to the knockout stages.
They showed in spells against the Netherlands that they’ve got something, and were unlucky not to grab a point.
There was no Lewandowski, who was sat there on the bench looking frustrated, and I don’t think he’s going to play here either.
Poland defended very deeply, and they must take the initiative in this game. I’m expecting them to push on and win.
I’ve not seen loads of Austria, but they looked solid against France in their opening game and were unlucky to lose via an own goal.
They were on a good run into the tournament – I think it was one defeat in 16 – so they’re not doing badly, but they’ve played a lot of poor teams.
I’m backing Poland to win 2-1.
