Portugal to Win 2-1
Phil Thompson is back to give us his Portugal v Czech Republic predictions for Tuesday’s Euro 2024 clash in Leipzig.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. are in Group F alongside Czech Republic, Turkey and Georgia – and Portugal are the heavy favourites to top the group and head into the knockout stages.
How far will Portugal go though? Many are tipping up Roberto Martinez’s side as dark horses for this summer’s tournament in Germany.
Thommo delves into whether Portugal will simply have too much quality for their rivals on Tuesday evening.

Portugal were my ‘dark horses’ coming into the tournament, I saw them priced at 8/1 to win it.
You look at the squad that they’ve got to pick from, they’ve so many great players. They lost their second-last friendly 1-2 to Croatia but they then beat Ireland.
Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t feature in the Croatia game but he netted twice against Ireland.
As I said though, you look through their squad and the teams that played that game against Croatia and Ireland – and you just think ‘wow’.
They have so many good players in this side and if they click they’ll be really able to bully teams. So, you’d have to fancy them here.
Portugal have won just two of their last four internationals, that’s a little bit worrying. You have to wonder what side of the bed some of these players get out of. But, it’s the Euros, it’s different from friendlies.
The Czech Republic won 7-1 against Malta and 2-1 against North Macedonia in their two friendlies and have won five and drawn one over their last six matches.
With the Czech Republic firing, I like the look of Both Teams to Score and I’m going for Portugal to Win 2-1.
