Belgium v Slovakia Tips
Belgium to Win 2-0
Both Teams to Score? No
Kevin De Bruyne to Score or Assist
Euro 2024 is here and that means so is top pundit Phil Thompson.
Thommo is back to look at Monday’s Group E showdown between Belgium and Slovakia, which on paper looks to be a routine outing for Domenico Tedesco’s men.
However, will it work out that way or will Kevin De Bruyne and Co. struggle to get going at another major international tournament? The floor is yours Phil…
Monday, June 17: 5pm – Belgium v Slovakia
Euro 2024 Group E match – Frankfurt
TV: ITV1/RTE2
Belgium should beat Slovakia in this game, it really is as simple as that.
When you think back to the ‘Golden Generation’ that Belgium had, the players in those squads, it was astonishing some of the names they had in previous tournaments.
In the past, they had players at the top clubs in the Premier League and across Europe, but they are still capable of competing.
Romelu Lukaku scored twice to beat Luxembourg in a friendly in midweek, that’s two wins in a row, but across the last four games they’ve won two and drawn two.
Slovakia beat San Marino 4-0 last week, but there’s not too much to read from that, and I’m going for Belgium to keep a clean sheet, so I’m saying Both Teams to Score? No.
As for a score prediction in this game, I’m going for Belgium to Win 2-0.
Within the squad, the big focus is on Kevin De Bruyne, and will he or won’t he still be at Manchester City next season or in the following campaign? He’s not had a great end to the season with City, he’s had injury issues, but he still has plenty of quality, so I’m tipping him To Score or Assist in this game.
