Harry Kane to Score or Assist
It is obvious that if England are going to mount a challenge at this tournament Harry Kane will have to play a major role for them.
It was only a couple of seasons ago that Kane dominated Tottenham’s goal and assist output in the same season, so we also know that he is a threat with the ball at feet from a passing perspective, so adding in the assist in this market is a nod to that ability.
This was demonstrated in the otherwise disappointing showing against Iceland, when Kane threaded Cole Palmer in for a great chance in the first half.
There has been only one competitive start in Kane’s England career since the beginning of the Qatar World Cup in which this bet wouldn’t have landed, and that was against the USA in the group stage in Qatar. Kane has registered either a goal or assist in the other 11 starts in that period.
Nemanja Gudelj to be Shown a Card
Nemanja Gudelj is a regular fouler, averaging 1.14 fouls per 90 in competitive matches up to and including the last World Cup Finals.
Indeed, it is Gudelj’s World Cup Finals record that piqued interest in this leg of the bet builder, as he managed to get himself two yellow cards in the group stages of that tournament in only 92 minutes of play.
Compared to some of his teammates with similar records for yellow cards, Gudelj is priced in a very fair fashion and looks to represent some value in this market as a result of that.
Dusan Vlahovic to have 1 or more Shot on Target
The Juventus marksman seems to have found his feet in this Serbia team, despite the presence of the nation’s leading goalscorer also still in his prime. While Aleksandar Mitrovic tends to still be regarded as Serbia’s main weapon, there are reasons to believe that Dusan Vlahovic is actually the more dangerous forward for England to watch here.
Mitrovic may have outscored Vlahovic in qualification and amassed a higher xG total overall, but it is the Juventus man who had a higher xG per 90 in qualification of 0.87 xG per 90.
It is also worth noting, specifically for this market, that Vlahovic currently has an excellent conversion rate from shots to shots on target, as well as a very high ratio of shots in general.
Vlahovic hit 18 shots for Serbia in competitive internationals up to and including the World Cup Finals, a rate of 5.08 per 90, and got exactly half of them on target, a rate of 2.54 per 90. A continuation anywhere near that should see this leg of the bet builder land.
Sasa Lukic to Commit 1 or more Fouls
The Fulham midfielder has a huge job on his hands in this match. He is likely to be one man of a double-pivot in the Serbian midfield, and, despite them playing three central defenders, it is likely that Sasa Lukic will be the one to drop back deeper to deal with Jude Bellingham.
Even if this isn’t the case, Lukic will have to compete with one of the best midfielders in the world in Declan Rice.
Lukic has a very consistent rate of fouling for Serbia, probably their most reliable fouler across the whole squad. He has committed at least one foul in seven of his last eight competitive starts, with an average of 2.45 fouls per 90 minutes. It would be something of a shock if Lukic didn’t add to that record in the match against England.
