The World Cup finalists are fancied by many to go all the way in the tournament while Austria are a popular dark horse pick, with Ralf Rangnick leading them into battle.
Thommo delves into whether Mbappe and co. can get off to a flying start or if Austria can live up to their spoiler reputation.

I’m backing France to go all the way and win the tournament and I’ve gone for France to Win 3-0 here.
The Kylian Mbappe move to Real Madrid is massive and I think he’ll be really up for it because sometimes you look at him and it looks like he couldn’t be bothered getting out of bed some days!
I’ve looked back at some of their games. Poor old Gibraltar bore the brunt of it, losing 14-0 and France had 10 different goalscorers that night, showing they’ve got goalscorers everywhere.
The French have had one defeat over their last seven fixtures, which was against Germany.
Austria, though, are undefeated over their last seven internationals and have only had one defeat over their last 16. Marko Arnautovic is still doing his stuff for them.
But, I’m going for France, I really think they’ll be up for it in their opening game, I see them winning 3-0.
With that margin of victory, I’m also backing Mbappe to Score.
With his highly publicised move to Real Madrid looming, I expect him to have a major say in this tournament.
