Social media was awash with frustrated fans who flew to Vancouver over the weekend only to see a Lionel Messi-less Inter Miami extend their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 2-1 win in Canada.
However, a return to Florida should also mean a return for Messi, as Tata Martino confirmed the Argentina captain is back fit to face Atlanta United in key battle. Messi already has 10 league goals so far this season, with six of those coming at home, and he will want to keep that record going with a scoring return for the first XI.
Inter Miami are on a roll after a mixed start to the season with seven wins and a draw in their last eight league games, including three successive home victories.

Cincinnati look ready to battle with Messi’s Inter Miami at the top of the Eastern Conference as the pair pull clear of the chasing pack at the summit. They cannot afford to miss a step, and their form is superb, with Nashville arriving at the TQL Stadium to face hosts who are on a seven game winning streak.

As the Eastern Conference takes shape, New York Red Bulls are trailing Inter Miami and Cincinnati in third place with a seven point gap in behind the latter. Part of the reason for that is their inability to keep clean sheets to match their goal scoring exploits.
Five of their last six MLS games have featured over 2.5 total goals scored and all of them have included both teams getting on the score sheet. However, as they are unbeaten on home soil in league this year, they should have enough to edge out another chaotic win.
